I’ve determined I write 500 words an hour (ish)
I have my scenes, plot completely mapped out, I just have to write the dang thing.
Parents, beach trip, other distractions getting in way.
    Any hope of finishing Nano? 44,033 words in 8 days… that’d be 5,504 words a day… at 500/hr would be 11 hours a day.

Cry. Not going to make it on my first attempt at Nano. mad at myself. 🙁

You can cheat by using xxx and yyy and zzz for your character’s names and use Word’s “Find-Replace”-feature later. It’s legal cheating and I use it a lot at the moment because I fell behind, too (due to a lung infection).

So that makes the typing faster? I’ve got names for all my characters… interesting concept. Maybe I’ll do a bunch of “xxxxxxxx” for scenes where I need to work out the details and they’re making me stare at the ceiling grinding my teeth, and then power through to the next scene, then the next. Write what I know. I don’t think it’s my style, though, to not edit as I go. I gotta stop being so precious with this thing though.

Friday 601 words, Saturday 645 words.

They danced without music, going through the motions, but last night, drifting off to sleep, I found their rhythm, their reason again and I’m off to the finish line…

572 words for Saturday. Wrote a xcene that has to be inserted somewhere ealier in the book, to set up a clue about the murderer.

I wrote 3K or something in write-a-thon, something that keeps me on track and everything. I’m now stalling a bit, trying to convince myself to invent more trouble for my protag. It always takes me a while to convince myself to be bad to them.

No words yesterday. Spent a lot of trying to figure out how my character would make it to the next scene if people knew about her already. So I am putting that version of the scene away and rewriting to match my original outline. But at least I got some insights into a few of my secondary characters so all was not lost.

Another big day for me, 5963… bypassign my previous most for the day I made earlier this week. My nano is coming along well, I’m at 43540, almost done with the wordcount!!

My story is starting to wind down was well, sadly. I thought it would be longer, but I don’t know if it will be much longer than 60k. Oh well, maybe I’ve skipped some things.

Rose got some revenge today, against a fellow servant who has been nothing but a headache for her since she came to the palace. She also made an accidental discovery that is going to help her out a great deal, once she does a little investigating.

556 on Saturday. The cold still lingers, so that’s more than I expected — especially since it was on DG, the main WIP. I hadn’t thought I could focus enough for the fairly intense confrontation currently going on.

Hoping for more words on Sunday and that the cold goes the way of the dodo.

I am currently reading Twilight (yes, I know I am behind the times) and it’s great. But what do you (the group) think makes it stand out so much? Maybe it’s the story: Forbidden love, life and death, etc. Maybe the pace of the book, maybe something else. Some luck could be involved too. What is it that separates a good book from a #1 bestseller great book?

It’s all about the angst, man 😉 Forbidden love, dreamy boy. I got caught up in it too but I actually liked her “Host” book much better than the Twilight series. And, for me, Twilight just doesn’t compare to a book like Harry Potter that has so much world development to go along with it. (But I honestly couldn’t put them down… now the movies, that’s a different story [not a fan]).

I cannot answer, since I tried reading it and had to put it aside around page 30. I suppose it wasn’t really my thing 🙂

The matriarch makes it clear that if Erthel’s mother has something to hide, she will have to answer about it just like anybody else as soon as they find her. Then she proceeds to give her own explanation of what has happened, and what will need to be done to find Erthel’s mother. In the meanwhile, Erthel realizes there’s something she can do to help.

A massive 5,097 words for Saturday, and hoping for similar success for Sunday to get me caught up on Nano.

Baron Zhaer is still the topic of conversation, (and the gossip which seemed perfectly reasonable in outline is getting monotonous, but whatever. There won’t be any more). Later, Laena is introduced to a potential suiter at a dinner party, and finds him more interesting than she expected.

Amazing wordcount Teri! Keep it up and good luck on your NaNo novel! 🙂

        Thank you, both.

Nano is really challenging me. I feel like I’m constantly playing catch-up 🙂 I’m thrilled with how it’s going, but I’ll be glad when December rolls around and I can go back to my 500 word a day goal.

over 1550 words today! i finished my scene. it was awesome.

    1097 words.

The Princess, feeling pretty happy and full of herself for talking her way out of Rebel hands, goes back to the square in front of the immigration building. And The Bodyguard isn’t there. She’s ticked but she’s also scared and lonely. She hears a racket and goes over to a saloon down the street. People are celebrating her father’s death and watching re-runs on the TV. She’s devasted and she runs away. Whenever she sees rebel uniforms, she alters her course. Finally, she can’t run anymore and she stops for a good cry. She meets an old woman and they talk about about regime change and the initial euphoria but how it never seems to change for the poor. And the Princess falls asleep in a ragged overstuffed chair in front of a bonfire.

I really wanted a lot more words today but I ended up working all day. And when I did sit down to write, I was drawing a blank. This scene was nowhere in my original plans. I had to kinda get into it before I figured out where it wanted to go. I’ve got some ideas on how to get back to my original storyline but not sure exactly how it’s going to work at this point.

833 words tonight, and I am absolutely ecstatic to be writing on this book again! It’s amazing the changes Ryan has gone through over all this time, and the climax is close…the pieces are slowly setting up for the final move.

    Yay, more TM!

1083 for me today. A séance, an unexpected (live) visitor, and a couple of dogs stirring up trouble. Fun scene.
