WABWM: Bad Help

8:17 AM

The weekend was a wash. I was flattened by the worst vertigo in a couple years, and horrible icepick migraines along with the regular kind. I accomplished moving myself from the bed to the couch. Nothing on HTWAS. Nothing on Corrigan’s Blood. Nothing on recording the song. Just. Nothing.

Today, both migraines and vertigo continue. It’s a weekday, I have a deadline, I’m going to give this my best shot.

STARTING WORDCOUNT: 62,535
GOAL: 1500+
STARTING SCENE: Momentum.

11:50 AM

Figured out a way to twist my neat twist from last week, and worked in a character I needed to get back into the picture in the process.

TOTAL WORDS: 64,252
TODAY: 1717
SCENE: Bad Help (replaces Curiouser and Curiouser)

I’m still able to sit up, so I’m going to go pay affiliates and other folks (bills, yay!).

And then prep for a meeting this afternoon. As queasy as I am, I’m hoping I’ll hold out until after it’s done.

Holly, I guess you’ve had plenty of suggestions about the horrible experience you’re having, but I’ll add to the pile anyway.
In an earlier existence, I was an international corporate executive.
I’d been experiencing what are called painless migraines, (jagged silver flashes in my vision), for several months. I’d had several mild attacks of vertigo and then on a business trip in Asia, it came on suddenly and extremely, such that I fell over in a restaurant and couldn’t stand up.
An ambulance took me to a local hospital, where I was pumped full of anti histamines.
A couple of days later, after the room stopped spinning and I could at least sit up, the doctor, an exchange military doctor from the Chinese army, came and talked with me.
He told me that my problem was stress coupled with a weakened immune system.
He told me to take large doses of Vitamin C and showed me a simple meditation technique that takes only ten minutes, that I should do every day.
I have followed his advice. Both the vertigo and the migraines faded over a few weeks, and have never returned.
More than a decade later, I’m still following his advice.
    So far so good.
If, by any chance, you would care to know the mediation, I could easily explain in an email.
In any case, all the best and I do hope you recover soon.
    Best wishes,
    Anthony

Thank you very much. I definitely have room to go up on Vitamin C.

Holly, have you tried acupuncture? It is supposed to be very good for migraines.

Goal: Get back into the story after about two weeks without writing; finish setting up the initial crisis. Wrote 305 words today; 24850 / 125k, roughly.

I suffered from migraines for years. I cut out dairy a while back and I haven’t had a migraine since. I never thought that the two had anything to do with one another but the results speak for themselves.

Haven’t eaten dairy in years. I wish that were it.

If you’re not eating dairy, are you getting enough vitamin D? It’s put in milk to make it easier to digest, but recent studies have shown it to be a big immune booster, at least as important as vitamin C.

I’m not a doctor, I don’t play one on TV, YMMV, etc.
