Vini, vidi, kickassi

This morning went well. I had a nice long stretch of time and I really fell into the book — wrote two new scenes from scratch (about 4000 words), and managed in those two scenes to tie together the part of the book I’ve been retrofitting and dying over and the part at the end that wraps up with such a great bang. People fell into place, motivations became clear, and I managed to set up what happens next.

Good writing day.

On a more personal note, I can see again. Lost my glasses over the holidays and have not managed to find them. I ended up getting new (I figure I’ve been wearing glasses since I was nine, and this is the first time I’ve ever lost a pair. So while I feel bad about it, it’s not like I make it a habit.) My replacement glasses came in today, and I’m no longer feeling my way through the house.

And finally, I’m considering the role of weblogging in my life. Spent a few months not doing it, and am back to logging in regularly, but I want to figure out whether I want to continue to just write about the writing, or whether I want to expand. For what it’s worth.

Purely selfishly, I really enjoy the writing-commentary focus of the blog. As a struggling-but-hopeful writer myself, it’s really interesting, and strangely fulfilling to read that an author I highly respect is having the same problems that I am.

I mean that, of course, not in a nyah-ha sort of way, but in a "look how she’s solving her problems" kind of way. I don’t know if "inspirational" is too strong a word–I’m almost certain it is–but it comes to mind.

Of course, what -I- want out of your blog is hardly the point. It’s -your- blog after all, and if you want to talk about the role of the Yen in Belarus Haut Couture, that’s your right…

But personally I reallyreally dig the writer-to-reader/writer-to-writer stuff I find here, and come back pretty darn frequently to look for it.

I got new glasses over the holidays, too–bi-focals!

I had to laugh when you wrote about the glasses. Just one question–now that you can see, did you find your old pair? 🙂 I’m so blind that if mine fall off the nightstand, I really have a hard time finding them!

It’s nice to see you back to blogging. And I’ll read whatever you choose to share…I’m nosy that way. 🙂

And I’m so happy your writing day kicked some butt.

Woo-hoo, Holly! I loved your logline; it had me rotfl. I hope things stay this good for you.
