Was up until 5:30 AM, so starting kind of late this morning. 11:21 AM
On page 323 of the manuscript, with 394 the final page, and about 20 handwritten pages that I know of yet to type in.
No idea how quickly this will go, but I could conceivably wrap the type-in today.
Write exuberantly, and with joy!
Onward.
I’ve barely had time to write my words, and so haven’t had time to post, but today I crossed over the NaNo finish line at 50k!
I kept right on writing and ended up with 4427 words for the day. As usual, I can’t promise that I won’t go back for a few more. 🙂
One of today’s scenes was a candy bar scene that I’ve been contemplating for a long time now, and I’ve added a time loop into it just to make sure it has all my favorite things in it. The words flowed like … silk and chocolate and a soaring guitar solo, like holy crap, who IS this writer?
That doesn’t happen consistently though, and I’m back to my usual mediocre first draft drivel. But, darn, I’m having so much fun. Why can’t I write this much all year round?
Woo hoo Kirsten! What a wonderful feeling when the words flow like that!
So, are you going to keep up with WABWM?
I am looking to complete my 50K by Weds – just so it’s “done”. The story won’t be done – not even close – but the challenge will be done. Plus I am motivated by some of the deals that NaNo winners get like 50% off Scriviner and Dragon. Might have to try those out. Working with the trial of Scriviner now and like it quite a bit.
Yup, I’m a huge fan of WABWM, so I’m usually here working on something, whether it’s Nano or revision. 🙂
I use Scrivener too and it’s terrific. I don’t know how I would manage without it.
And great job on your progress! Finishing Nano early is no small feat!
Took some discipline but got in 2510 words for a NaNo total of 41053. I’m getting bored. Need some spice for my plot. Will ponder this later. Now is sushi time!
Peace and words everyone!
Made it to 358 yesterday before the migraine took me out.
Starting in again today: 10:12 AM.
Still working to get WARPAINT done this weekend. Less likely I’ll make it, because I needed to have a better day yesterday so I had more done when I come up against that huge block of new pages.
But I’m in and swinging for the fences.
Didn’t really do much yesterday, too much stuff going on over here at work. But this morning, I finished the scene I had been working earlier this week. What I had written Late Friday night is now smoothed out and grew by another page.
+ 250, total now up to 8956. 1 more scene to write for Ch3 and 1 more for Ch4. Shooting for a total of at least 10K by the end of Chapter 4.
@Holly. Among all the $h!t going on, I finally starting reading Fire In The Mist, about 2/3 through it. Good book! Right up my alley and thoroughly enjoying it. I’m starting HTCB next.
Delighted you’re enjoying it. That was my first novel. 😀
And thank you for reading it.
I’m up 4000 words on the final revision. Still can’t seem to get more than 4 chapters done in one day though. Jumping from one POV character’s mind into another’s is really draining 😉
Congrats on being almost done, and I really admire your drive!
Up 4K! Good stuff! I know what you mean about not being able to get more than a certain amount in every day. Progress is still progress. Keep up the good work. 🙂
I got myself successfully out of a previously wrecked scene today. I need to finalize the “science” for one of the big doodads in it, but it’s definitely fitting in nicely now to play a big role in the end of the book. (I’d actually been thinking about deleting it before because it was causing too many problems.) Yay.
In about 650 words, I’ll be adding brand new words to my word count. Although I still have one final scene to hack back on track. But I think I might even be able to save most of the words.
Most importantly to me, the store is back on track. (I’m in the last quarter and these last scenes were just so off before.) Now the tone and the characters match what I was imagining (still rough draft but I can work with it and I don’t dread being around it now).
Congrats Holly on your progress- I’m sure that’s a weight off and a great feeling! (I feel like we’re in similar happy rescue modes right now.) 🙂
WOO HOO HOLLY!!! How exciting for you! And glad the 5th time was a charm. Bet that feels good.
The hens have concocted a song for you – they’re out there “singing” (quite painful to listen to, actually) right now.
As for me, I met my goal of 2500 words for a NaNo total of 38543 – on par to finish by Thanksgiving. Well at least finish the 50K part by Thanksgiving….
Write on!
Holly,
Yah! Tenacity is actual the greatest writing trait and you have in spade and clubs, even if you use the clubs to kill characters and the spades to bury them! 😉
Jen,
Great work. My first WRIMO and I am at 31167 and rolling again. Had a few off days (14 hours days at work and such, but since I was aiming at 2K/day I am still way on track with lots of open writing time in the week to come. What’s your novel about?
Write on,
Rob
Oh, yes. The scene that broke on me through four attempts?
Got it on the fifth. 😀
In response to one questioner…I MAY let folks know which scene was the one that drove me nuts.
