Tigers & Otters & Zombies, Oh MY!

Kettan finds herself in the world she mostly created when she was about fifteen—and discovers that it’s the place she imagined it would be… but that she isn’t the person she thought SHE was.

And Fred…well, Fred the Basset Hound presented a new talent.

419 words. I’m going to have to do some work on this section in revision…it isn’t quite there. But the parts that are there I’m happy with.

How’s your stuff coming along?

1000 over the weekend, 1000 yesterday and a 1000 today on my novel. Somehow between studying for a Trig test and watching the Big Bang Theory I also managed to squeeze in a 1000 words of a new short story that’s bouncing around in my skull. It’s right at the point where I need to figure out where the heck I’m taking it before the new-story buzz fades and I’m left with a few pages of blah.

I agree, Nancy. I’m liking Fred a lot and I was also hoping he might have more to him ๐Ÿ™‚

I knew there was more to Fred than met the eye… ๐Ÿ™‚

No words. Again. But I got in a good half hour of thinking and I’m really pleased with the next section that I’ve mapped out.

347 words so far for today, but a whole new conception of how the novel will work.

I love those moments when your head starts twisting the story into something tighter. Mine is doing it with TalysMana right now.

When you see letters spell a word out in your dreams, you simply must find out what that word is. In my case, it turned out to be the name of the world where my next story will be set.
So 1423 words on that-MC tells the girl what his world was like before his family came to Isair. No story yet, just an interesting place with interesting people in it. Sort of like gathering firewood-ideas- that might make a story.
    And more Lesson One HTRYN.

    Holly,
I just wanted to thank you for all of your help. I used your Character Workshop and my muse came flying right out of my ear and into my fingers. After only 10 minutes, my keyboard was exhausted from tapping out over 550 words bringing my new character to life. I have never been able to that in all of my 39 years. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Way to go! You should have gotten video of the Muse flying out of your ears, though. It might have inspired the rest of our muses!

1210 words. Fritz is enjoying his first morning at the POW camp. Once again, nothing is as bad as he was afraid it was going to be. I need to throw a curveball at him here pretty quick.

1000 words! More than I ever thought I’d get. Yay! Getting into a nasty bit of fighting between heroine and hero’s mother.

KavI: 638, I ran over as I was killing someone and it didn’t seem fair to leave them overnight!
OFL: 1069 and onto scene 102…
RFW: 1015 and the only realistic hope of overthrowing an oppressive regime is tricked and trapped

I’m getting started on my new project and hope to complete it (incl. revision) some time in May. I had planned to start it during NaNo after I finished my last project but I got ill and wrote short-stories instead. I’ll send one of those (a ghost story aimed at kids 6-12) to a competition today.

My new project is a Fantasy-murder-mystery and I plan to market it as Urban Fantasy. It’s aimed at older teens, so it needs a good love-sub-plot. I did all my dot-and-lines and my Sentences Lite in November, so I can did right into it first thing tomorrow morning.

Today, I will finally be able to finish my assignment for Holly’s HtRYN-course. I had troubles getting it done because my printer refused to print the last few pages and Holly specifically said: No reading on the screen. I hate that printer and need some money to buy a new one. So keep your fingers crossed that my short-story wins (because that would earn me enough for a printer)

1,089 words, mostly in 25-word installments, taking a minute’s break from the stuff I was busy with all day. So, I’ve learned that no matter how busy I am, I always have time to write. Only 10 one-minute pauses is enough to get 250 words written. ๐Ÿ™‚

After dinner, when I had more time, I got the rest of my character reports done for HTRYN. I have a group cast, so I’ve done a sheet for each of them, even though it’s a lot more work. Now I’m looking forward to delving in the MS for promises.

1363 with Cait’s escort back to jail being interrupted by an unknown assailant. After a brief magic and sword fight, Cait runs with the assailant to another part of the building she’s being held in.
The assailant claims to be James’ sister – though Cait has never heard mention of her (reader has). Tension is high between them but eventually Cait concedes to follow the sister to “a safe place” in exchange for telling her what happened to James – who Cait believes is dead from being burried alive.
They are now escaping the building, but are both in for a big surprise and much disappointment as a consequence.

The scene pretty much possessed me today, but I’m not complaining! Fun meter was a 10!

Ooh, now you got me curious. I have to find out about Fred! ๐Ÿ˜€

The main villain in my story (against whom Ryan won the fight) has just done something unimiganible. Taboo, even for these creatures that ritually drink the blood of vanquished warriors. Why it is taboo I don’t know, as quite frankly I don’t really see that much of a difference between drinking a warrior’s blood and pouncing on some random guy (or maybe not so random)– wait a minute. I think I just figured out why. All the ritual surrounding death with these people…it all makes sense. Wow. I don’t think my word count for today will stop at 719. XD

Sorry if I don’t make much sense at all, my brain works in strange ways. ๐Ÿ˜€
