The novel is back on track

I’m in my second week of getting words on TalysMana every night.

I’ve been tentative about saying anything here: the whole fiction-writing process felt so fragile after the unplanned five-month hiatus—family emergency, moving, family emergency, vertigo-and-migraines.

I’m just starting to feel mostly normal most of the time, and though I’ve been able to pick up where I’d left off with stories in the past, I’d never been away from one so long without doing any other fiction.

But I’ve been making steady progress, and just wanted to breathe my sigh of relief here.

You know, within reason. Don’t burst a cranial artery or anything.

I’m so glad things are back on track & truly hope they only get better from here on. You are such an inspiration and sunny presence in my life — I didn’t realize how much I look forward to your positive attitude and delightful story until things changed. Look after yourself, OK? We appreciate you and don’t want to lose you.

So glad to hear you are back in swing of your novel. Me, I just need a kick in the butt to get down to business with mine and stop going off on short story and poetry tangents.

That’s fantastic, Holly, and if anything, the latest installments have been stronger. That said, do count in some recovery time considering all that you’ve been dealing with.

That’s great. Take your time, we don’t want you to disappear again.

Great to hear it, Holly! No migraine can stand before the force which is Lisle!

Oh, that is so exciting! I have been thinking the last couple of months how much I miss my daily check to see how you are doing and adding my own numbers to the list. My numbers have not been good on any fiction writing, but I have been doing semi-well with my writing journal. Cheers.

Great to see/read you back. I loved the last two chapters but take your time to fully recover.

So glad to see you back doing what you love Holly!

I’m very much enjoying the new installments of Talysmana, especially the most recent one – it gave me goosebumps! 😀

  • Anthea Sep 7, 2010 @ 11:10

    Good to hear. 🙂

And I have *loved* the past two installments!

  • Littlesister Sep 7, 2010 @ 7:38

Great to hear you’re feeling better, Holly.
And thanks for Talysmana. Even in first draft it’s a continuous “wow” experience for me.

So glad to hear that things are coming back together for you. Sounds like you’ve turned the corner medically as well as professionally. Thinking good thoughts at you!

  • Dawn Sep 7, 2010 @ 0:35

    *hugs*

Enjoy the moment. I for one felt my heart skip a beat when I saw the first scene in my mailbox, and when the second one came in? Whee! Awesome as always.

It’s a roller coaster – so don’t be afraid to celebrate the good stuff. There are enough downers… go nuts. 😀

This is wonderful news! I’ve been reading TalysMana and loving it. These last two installments have really amped up the world and the danger for Kettan, and maybe the human race. It is so great, too, that you are able to work with your daughter. My daughter and I had thought about putting her soaps, candles, lotions into a story, but we both got so busy that we never got around to it–then you and Rebecca made it come true! Woohoo! So happy you are feeling better and back to writing fiction. 🙂

    Yay! Wonderful news, Holly.
