The NEW TalysMana Artifact (and Upcoming Contest)

Yesterday Becky posted her first rough concept sketch for what the Fendle Warrior’s Heart would look like. I meant to come in here last night and post the link, but after writing 4000+ words of lesson, I was just too fried.

Today, though, I wanted to let you know her sketch is up. It’s SO much cooler than anything I was imagining.

And she’s open to comments at this point in the design process, too.

INCIDENTALLY…

I’m going to have a little contest for folks who are reading TalysMana. Becky and I are still working out the details on her end, but from my end, one reader is going to get to be in the book. (Probably to end up dying in some dramatic way…but still.)

If you’ve been dying to die heroically in a novel, make sure you’re signed up to receive the TalysMana chapters. Only story readers will be eligible for the contest, and details will be going out in one of the TalysMana e-mails soon.

I am really liking Will Grey. I’m so glad you pursued the question of what would happen if Kettan didn’t shoo him out of her apartment.

302 on Friday 4206 for the week.

I’m on gardening leave for the next three weeks so i’m hoping to get to my 90K by the end of the month with a big ‘HOPING’. I’ve said it now! That’s my target 29K this month?

Hope you all have a good week.

I set out to write a sentence of 30 words for revision and ended up with 2554 really sloppy words, exploring an entirely new dimension to the antagonist(s) in my revision.
Because the really sloppy words are what lead me to answers ๐Ÿ™‚

0 words yesterday, just a complete vege day. So now I plan to turn off the internet and focus. Hopefully I’ll be back with a word count later today.

    Friday’s words:
KavI: 645, hopefully finished on Monday
    D&DII: 868
    RFW: 1240
Two thousand more words chipped off OFL revision, too.

    0 words.

I have a kind of a set nightly schedule. Last night, my wife got in from NYC after 10:30 and then couldn’t get to sleep. So I didn’t get my usual alone time. Not that it’s not good to have her back home. I just didn’t get a space to write.

      240 words.

The Princess convinced the Dancer she wasn’t trying to threaten her or her child. And the Dancer agreed to send her rebel contact to buy The Princess’ weapons.

I was really just tinkering tonight. Just expanding on an existing scene. But I did take a tip from D.J. Mills and created a HtTS Project Plan and read back through a lot of the HtTS lessons.

And now that I think about it, I think I’m going to end up tossing this whole scene. It wasn’t planned and now that I think about it, it’s got nothing going for it. I think it’s going to be better if I stick to my outline on this.

Actually, since I’ve thought about this some more. I keep the scene but change one of the players.

        568 words.

The captain of a ship taking prisoners back to the Capital is happy to welcome an escort ship (even though it’s an Imperial Corvette). She thought she was making this trip solo. But then this Corvette orders her to hand over one of her prisoners. And then refuses to let her contact Command. And after she hits battle stations, the missiles start flying.

I worked a lot on revision today and because of that, I didn’t spend as much time on this as I would have liked.

The Princess is loaded onto a ship with two other prisoners to take her back to her home planet to face judge and jury.

Wow I can’t wait for the details on that contest!

No writing for me last night, but I spent some time talking to my villain about showing some more of his darker side, which he seems happy about. And I decided who the 4yo is going to turn to for help.

Sounds like a fun idea, Holly. I quite enjoy killing people in my fiction, might be fun to have someone do it to me…

I finally spent some time writing last night. It was painful, but I managed 350 words last night. I’m working on Apprentice Moon, which is part of the trilogy I am revising, so it’s easier to write in a world I already know and am so immersed in. Poor Dragonfly is so neglected lately.

Hi Holly, the whole contest idea is amazing and I can’t wait to hear what you have in mind for us! ๐Ÿ˜€

No actual words these days, but getting in touch with my muse for the planning of next scenes. I feel like I’m always learning new techniques, which of course won’t work every time the same way, but still it’s kinda cool.

KavI: 602, and the short action scenes at the end are propelling this to a close, which is quite exciting – next week sometime…
    D&DII: 768
RFW: 1224. Also reaching its finale.
And I’m approaching the half-way point on OFL revision.

Last night I wrote 515 words after deleting 100 from previous session. Wrapped up the scene (which made me very happy), although I think it might change dramatically during revision (which makes me less happy).

BTW, that is one of my 2 lifelong dreams: to live a long, happy life, and to die dramatically (fictionally, of course). ๐Ÿ˜‰

    500+ Words.

Wrapped up the chapter very nicely, with my MC coming to a realization I had some time back.
And I think this is the offical end of the beginning. . .

*writhing in the agony of not having met Bill/Will yet*

403 words. The hinge turned, the muse laughed manaically, and the slave trader turned into one of the MC’s old friends who I haven’t seen since page 4. And yes, I’m picking my jaw up off the floor just looking at it. It’s wierd. And I still haven’t finished my awesome scene! It’s just getting more interesting…

I want the Fendle Warrior’s Heart!

I also want to die tragically in your novel. How cool would that be?

I was destined to die heroically — in a novel. That would be cool!

Excellent installment. I am ready to hear more.

Can’t wait to audition for the dramatic death scene.
