The Emerald Sun: Lost some time to the world

I got 879 words today — not the 1500 I’d planned.

But Genna found herself at the end of the world, and it took me a while to figure out how to get that part of the scene right.

The dragon and his many voices has rejoined the party, and the cat had a terrible scare.

I love what I got.

It simply took me much more time than I’d hoped to get it.

Tomorrow, maybe I’ll be able to make better progress.

    Hi Holly!
I’ve loved your Moon and Sun books since they were originally published. I’ve recently started grad school, and am finally cleaning all of my things out of my parents’ house. I started packing up old books and making the difficult decisions about what to keep and what couldn’t fit in my apartment, and in the process I picked up the Ruby Key and flipped it open. I haven’t been able to put it down! A decade plus later, your Moon and Sun series is still entrancing and resonating with me. I’m in my mid-twenties and have spent 3 hours lying on my childhood bedroom floor rereading, and I just had to Google whether you’d been able to publish the final novel in the trilogy. Some dedicated searches brought me to your announcement in 2018 of restarting the project, and then this post! I was saddened to hear that Scholastic was so uncooperative with your wonderful writing, and totally understand the decision to shelve them. But I now have to wonder, will The Emerald Sun be coming to life after all? I’ll keep an eye out here on your website! I hope you’re doing well and staying safe in the current crisis!

Much respect and best wishes from a dozen-year fan,
    Elizabeth
