Tentative evidence of alien life

Here’s a short article with good links about the possible findings of fossilized alien bacteria in a meteorite.

My take on it is “Damn cool if it can be verified.”

What do you think?

I got sidetracked for a few months. Darn the evil day job! I love the website, have happily surfed around. But, I can’t find Write a Book With Me. Can someone direct me back home? I feel very far off the path.

Life on other worlds? I have no proof, can’t point to any undeniable proof, never met an alien that I know of, but fully believe that life elsewhere exists. I don’t think I will see concrete
inarguable evidence of this in my life time at the rate research is progressing. We simple do not have the tools, the science, the understanding we need to find other life out there on our own, yet. Even if we somehow blindly stumbled on to something that caused us to be able to have belief, so many wouldn’t be able to accept. Our soul as humans is so based on religion, selfish ambitions and other negative flaws like we automatically think we are the best, that we would not be able to cope with the revelation. We may not be the first born son after all. People are just not ready for it on a whole. Unless these aliens out right introduce themselves, most simply wont believe unless their hand is shook by a 3 fingered green one, and even then maybe not. So, am tickled alien green to think we have something that points to a possibility. Fuels my dreams when I look up at night, and I am sure many others who open their minds. The rest can keep their heads buried in the sands of denial. Am I right. Of course. I am a human.

The theory opens a great avenue for creative speculation but there will need to be a ton of confirming reports and generalized scientific agreement before I’ll go along. Mostly, science progresses step by very small step. On the other hand, “Damn Cool” that the scientist is open to the possibility. It’s a big deal to put the theory out there and to put a scientific reputation on the line. Career maker or buster, gambling…

I was intrigued by this. I’ll say that for me, while it’s extremely exciting news, I’m not at all surprised – I’ve always been of the opinion that the discovery of the existence of extraterrestrial life (or something similar enough to our idea of ‘life’ to count) was inevitible. As others have said, the universe is too big a place for something like our planet to occur only once.

I’ll reserve judgment until tests have concluded and we know for sure they aren’t terrestrial bacteria that have contaminated the sample, etc. That some of them strongly resemble known bacteria might suggest that, but I won’t lie, I’m hoping they’re really aliens 😀

“If this is proven true, I’ll definitely have to jump on the “Damn cool!” bandwagon. I believe wholeheartedly in the creation theory of life, and I’ve always found it difficult to believe that God would have limited himself to life on ONE planet when there’s so much more out there.”

I would go more along with saying that it is closer to proving there is no God. Its really not that scary… you live and you die.

I find it sad that it’s deemed a “controversial” discovery; are we humans really that obsessed with the notion we’re on the only planet with life? Or so arrogant in our opinions/ science that we can’t cope with the idea we got it wrong?

Then again, this is the same species that refuses to recognise the possibility that there are other sentient creatures right here on earth with us – and we could be trying to communicate with them rather than sending signals into space for “little green men”.

After reading the article I have a lot of questions that would need to be answered before i would consider this to be verified. If those questions can be put to rest by further research i will whole heartedly echo your “Damn Cool!”.

I’ve always believed aliens existed. I figured the discovery of them would be something rather simple like this, not a scene from Independence Day.

Of course, the claim hasn’t been verified yet, but even if they say it’s false, that doesn’t change my belief. There has to be life on other planets. The odds are just to astronomical, with all the planets in the universe, that others wouldn’t develop life.
