Slog, Slog

I not only did the Lesson 6 worksheet, but also rewrote and added significantly to Lesson 6 itself, which has taken all day, including the time I would usually spend on TalysMana.

And the kid is sick, AND I think I’m catching it.

So I’m not going to get fiction words tonight.

I am, instead, going to sleep.

How’s your story coming along?

518 words. I struggled after taking a week. It was a bunch of dialog that I may or may not keep. That will be for the revision to deside.

    621 words for today.

I hoped to do more but a late night last night and a total distraction by a very interesting side project kept me busy for most of the day. I promised myself to write today so I did.

    Speaking of slogging : )
Stayed up way too late reading the middle section of my draft. That was where I first started writing, in the middle,(scared to write the beginning, and couldn’t even think about the end!) I knew it would be bad, and was prepared with chocolate. They say it helps with the pain.
What I wasn’t prepared for was how the sections I filled in later contrasted with the parts written six months before. It was as if a different writer had come in and said, “Here, let me help you write this.” Happy with that, I finally fell into bed exhausted, because I’m working even harder on this than I did on my Nano!
So I made progress, even though it doesn’t feel like much sometimes.
    Stay well, Holly!

    677 on Tuesday.

Today, Chase and Savvy are going to have their tension-filled Sunday brunch interrupted when a couple of cops show up to bring them both in for questioning.

    Let the games begin!

After last night’s heinous trek home through the snow, and having a 7:00 obligation I couldn’t afford to blow off, I got zilch done. Again. I have got to break this pattern tonight.

KavI: 524, onto the third and last of my three new intro scenes…
OFL: 1036 and after a slow middle, the feeling that I’m starting to draw things towards their conclusion…
RFW: 1049…I’m STILL not sure about this novel – at the moment every scene seems to be a year or more from the last, which I’m not sure is helping with continuity, but I’m trying to get through about 20 years in about 90000 words, so I’m not sure there’s another way!
And I made some decent progress ironing out my D&DII plot, which is still going on longer than I’d like, but as I’m confident of the first half, I’ll start writing it next week, and finish the last 10 or so page-per-scenes in the run up to Christmas…

    442 words.

The Princess is ticked off. The Captain is following the Bodyguard’s order and forcing her to get onto a ship going to a peaceful, happy planet far from the war. The Princess tries every argument she can think of but he’s not buying it. So she gets into the line at her gate. When he looks down, she ducks into a place where he can’t see. When he looks up, he thinks she’s already boarded and he leaves.

I consider this the end of the first act. Now, hopefully, stuff starts to happen. I’m also in an online writing course and I had to write 750 words for that. I didn’t work on the revision today.

389 words today, and I am also needing more sleep than I did last week. The dark sub-Arctic winter has finally caught up with me, and since the snow still refuses to settle it’s darker and more miserable than it should be, so my body is trying to hibernate.

My characters are in Quarantine, and the Alien just let the human know that its not likely that he’s ever getting back home. And that they don’t much like outsiders where she comes from.
But she decided to help him, and she’s very well connected.

Got into a nasty spot being overwhelmed by how much revising this is going to require and was too afraid and disgusted to write for a long while, but I got in 611 words tonight.

Same here Holly and Eve. I’ve a ton of revising to do on my novel. I’m so overwhelmed. The first draft was only the beginning. Plus, the kids keep wanting me to watch Rudolph and Frosty and gang. Guess Castle Hayne will have to wait. Sigh.
