Rebel Tales Submissions Go Live

You’ve probably read about my war for the midlist—to recreate something that should never have been destroyed.

You may have read my New Year’s Resolution.

Well. I’ve almost got one piece of the puzzle done. And I just turned fifty a couple weeks ago, so I’m even almost on schedule.

Holly Lisle’s Rebel Tales is accepting submissions NOW—however, we’re still in beta, so they are not yet OPEN submissions. If you would like to submit your story to Rebel Tales (and currently we’re seeking Fantasy, Science Fiction, Paranormal, and Suspense), please sign up to the Rebel Tales Priority List and get your Rebel Tales Query/Synopsis manual.

If you’re not sure what we’re looking for, here are the critical links:

And if you want to meet other folks involved in this, join the Rebel Tales Community.

CLOSING DATE FOR SUBMISSIONS DURING BETA is November 18th at 10 AM EST.

My editors and I are waiting. Let’s create something wonderful.

Thanks guys. I’m just a worrier is all.

Little off topic, but it does pertain to writing. The beta for Scrivener for Windows has just been released. So if you’re a PC who’s been dying to try Scrivener, and you’re really good at backing up here’s the webpage: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivenerforwindows/index.html

    Hey Michelle,

You may not receive a definite response for a while during the period in which Holly is selecting her final editors. When Rebel Tales is fully up and running, the response time should be very rapid.

I sent my query in last Tuesday but I still have gotten a reply on it. The “query recieved” email said responses go out usually within 24 hours. Was that just highly wishful thinking? I’m worried that my query was missed somehow.

this is still beta so my guess would be that editors take a while longer to decide, to make sure they do it right. Don’t worry.

    Hi Holly,

My story is about 26,000 words and 65%-70% done. If I can crash revise it within a week or two it will be ready well within the time. I thank you for your patience with me, and look forward to submitting.

    Hi all,

I’m one of the prospective Science Fiction editors.

If you’ve got some kick-ass, character-driven, drool-inducing Science Fiction, hit up that priority list and get your query in! If you wait until the last minute, we might already have our episodes blocked out.

    Hi Holly,
Probably I’m being blind but I don’t see the submission guidelines. I read through the rules about what types of stories your interested in but I couldn’t find the information about where to submit, length of story, etc. Above you said the minimum is 2000, the maximum is 600. I’m assuming that’s 6000?
I’m sure there is a page somewhere but I haven’t located it yet.

    thanks!

Gah! “Read email before posting,” I chide myself.
I will sign up for priority list so I can get all the info ๐Ÿ™‚

the 600 words referred to the synopsis.

Squee! I’m so excited about this :o) I have a story in mind for this, but I got up to ‘the cut’ with it in the HTRYN course and gave it a break due to Life; a month might just be enough time to do the rewrite and polish. *ponder ponder*

Either way, much excitement. Go Holly! ๐Ÿ˜€

I need to write a story that fits your criteria first, but I’m planning to query before the deadline. ๐Ÿ™‚ I do have a couple of questions:

It looks like the minimum word-count for a submission is 2,000 words – is that correct?

What’s the word-count guideline for the synopsis of a submission intended to be complete in one issue?

    Thank you!

Minimum word count during the beta is 2000 words.

And maximum word count on a single-issue story is 600 words. But you can go with fewer.
