Questioning Character

I’m still digging through Create A Character Clinic. There keeps being more to say, to demonstrate, and to question, and the trick is getting to be how to keep this book in bounds.

Character is such an enormous subject. Narrowing the thing down to the specific act of creating characters and then extending it marginally to include writing the characters one has created in a professional fictional format is a wonderful challenge–sort of like taking an enormous shrub and cutting, twisting, and reshaping it into an elegant little bonsai. The writing part is a delight.

Formatting everything written into an acceptable book, and doing all the color charts and the few illustrations, on the other hand, is a BIG pain in the posterior.

But CCC progresses, and as far as I can tell, I’m still on schedule.

For Deathbyabsurdity, Holly does have a fee online book on writing available called Mugging the Muse: Writing Fiction for Love AND Money, you can find it through the “Writers” link.
Holly, I agree with e_Jim and would love to see you do something like this on scene construction and worldbuilding. Maybe a series? Oh, and I love charts and interactive workshops!
    Thx

I’m looking forward to seeing this CCC project done. Are you planning on doing other projects like this like scene and worldbuilding?

Hi, Holly. I only now discovered your blog and am looking forward to checking it out further. I love your writing and the fact that you seem so full of energy. My goodness, you just seem to have so much on the go at one time. Anyway, this is great, I’m so pleased that I stumbled here.

    Talk to you later,
    Cathy

Have you ever thought about putting all your How-Tos and other “writing” articles together? The hard work is already done.

Also, I think most would agree that it would be really useful to have that reference without the distraction that reading it online can cause. Or am I the only one that jumps online to look up a quick fact, jumping offline an hour later?

Kilishan beat me to it. I’d be willing to help, too. I’ve got a degree in graphic design, unused at present, if you need help with anything.

If you need help with any charts or illustrations, I’d be willing to help. My professional background doesn’t apply here, but I’ve got the software and knowledge and would love to help if you’d like it.
