Moon & Sun: I’m now clear to write in my world again!

I'm Celebrating!

I’m Celebrating!

I didn’t want to say anything about the fact that I was pursuing the removal of the non-compete clause from my contract until I heard one way or the other.

I got the news today. The non-compete clause for my Scholastic contract is dead, and I’m now free to write stories in that world again.

So now the issue becomes looking at my schedule and figuring out how and where I can start opening the world up again.

For a little context on my move to publishing my own work, read I’ve quit Big Publishing to publish myself.

    Hi Holly.
I was just wondering if you were any closer to coming out with the emerald sun book? I’ve commented before and am still looking forward to the third book. Any updates?
I’ve commented before on this thread.

You had mentioned potentially doing a kickstarter to fund the next book and I just wanted to say I would be happy to contribute and share to get the ball rolling! I loved the first two books and I am so eager to read the next!

Well, still waiting, but I’m a lot closer than I was two years ago.

Oh my gosh! I can’t tell you how freaking excited I am after reading this announcement! Ahhhh! I will do my best to get my hands on the next installment when it comes out, and I don’t care if I’m 50 by that time either (just an exaggeration, but I’ll do it if necessary). I also wanted to say thank you for continuing this series, and I admire your persistence in figuring out this whole contract deal with Scholastic. I never knew the same company that gave me the wonder that is the “Magic School Bus” when I was a kid would cause such a tangle up like this. Agh just thank you whoooo! I also hope that you’ll take your time with this book, and hope that you’ll enjoy writing it as well!

    • Annabell Apr 11, 2016 @ 15:02

Agreed! I’d wait for this book until I was 50!

      • Holly Apr 12, 2016 @ 11:17

I’ll do my best to make sure you don’t have to.

Are there any updates on when the next book is coming out? I’m going to have to reread the others and refresh my memory! Its been years since I read them, but I remember very specifically that they were absolutely amazing.

I’ll spend about the first week in January setting up my year goals. I’m pretty sure, though, that I’m not going to be able to get it into the goals this year. Last year was brutal, and left me with a lot of things hanging. I’m going to shoot for getting it onto the schedule for next year.

I can just scream! I <3 your books from the Moon&Sun series. I was telling my mom yesterday that at some point in time, even the author of a story doesn't really know what's going to happen next. I'm really hoping that you can explore Genna's world and live to tell the tale. XD

This makes me so happy!!! I’m sooo glad you can publish the third book, this is amazing!!! :’D Eeeep, I’m already excited to read it >w<

Haven’t read the books (yet) — but, having one’s world freed at long last, allowed to grow and thrive, must be one of those rare feelings. So, congratulations, Holly!!

I’d opt for indie publishing any day (I don’t trust all this legalese either), and stories like the one above make the choice all the more obvious.

I’ve only just read Ruby Key (having picked it up at random from a library shelf, and upon finishing it immediately rushing back to the library for Silver Door, which is sitting next to me, waiting to be devoured), but thought I ought to check to see if there was a Book 3 I should be reserving– and while I’m a little sad it’s not out yet (oh no, waiting for the next installment– the worst part of a series!), I’m delighted to hear it’s being worked on!

I suppose I’ll just have to go read every single one of your other books while I’m waiting. Y’know, to keep your wonderful writing fresh in my mind.

    • Holly Lisle Nov 24, 2014 @ 10:57

      Wow. Thank you. 😀

So what you are saying is that we can finally see what happens to Genna. Because you have no idea how long I have been waiting to read the Emerald Sun (since 2010). Not knowing why you would just leave Genna and crew there like that was hurt my soul and to hear that the book is being written is a weight off my mind. Instead of wondering what the cat is and if I will ever find out I can think I will find out. Thank you for writing these books and thank you for writing characters I have fallen so deeply in love with like Genna and Doyati with each other. I am so excited to read it and keep us updated.
