I was going to be more here.
But I’ve been working on the printed copy of RUBY KEY since Wednesday, and haven’t been by the computer. It’s going well, I’m falling in love with the characters and the story again, and everything is smoothing out and shaping up nicely.
I’ll be back to the computer on Monday.

Apropos of writing software, another forum I read has been saying nice things about Scrivener: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/ which describes itself as a “virtual writing studio.” Mac only.
Disclaimer: I haven’t used it myself, but may try it next time I have a free moment.
The program I’m using is WriteItNow Novel Writing Software, which I recommend whole-heartedly. Passionately, even. It’s for Mac and Windows (I’m using the Mac version), it keeps track of my characters, ideas, language, timeline, plot points, events, locations, ages of characters, who’s alive and who’s dead, (and if you need this feature, submissions). It costs under $40 US/ under £20 UK. Will work with any word processor that imports RTF files (almost everything under the sun). Does wonderful formatting.
And doesn’t make stupid suggestions about how you ought to write your book.
Chassit — you may want to try Jer’s Novel Writer, if you’re on Mac.
Beware, though: I had to drop it because it made my writing too calculated and bland, as I sifted through the built-in character database to keep up with my dozens of minor characters. I switched over to WriteRoom (Windows: DarkRoom) and it’s been great; it simulates one of the old green-on-black computer terminals (or any other color scheme you’d like) and allows the subconscious to take over.
That’s great, Holly, I’m glad everything is going so well! I’ve been working on one of my stories, but I have a hard time remembering all the facts about my world, so I spend a lot of time shuffling through papers trying to find everything.
