I’ve been keeping my head down and slogging.
In the last couple of weeks, I’ve been:
- writing HTRYN,
- writing the Crash Revisions Workshop and creating a workshop gift (if you signed up for that, I asked Sharon if we could keep the board around a little longer, and she’s agreed to keep it up for one more week, which means you can still get the gift I made for all the workshoppers)
- working on the TalysMana contest and project
- doing the mandatory website and e-mail maintenance running a little business demands
- fixing up a moderately wrecked foreclosure
- getting all my tax stuff in order for my accountant
- finding a friend I’d been searching for for the last 15 years, only to lose her two days after I found her to cancer
Still facing a couple of hurdles. I still have two HTRYN lessons to write, as well as creating the couple of bonuses the current batch of students will get to request and then vote on. I still ALSO have a series of advanced HTRYN demos to do, but those aren’t a rush issue.
I hope to finish up my box of tax material tonight, to get to my accountant tomorrow.
We’re still not done with the foreclosure.
Entries to the TalysMana contest are now closed, but it’s going to take me a few more days than I’d planned to get all the back-end stuff set up.
And on April 29th, my brother-in-law goes in for surgery to remove the huge (bigger than a softball) hemangioma in his brain.
This is just an update because I have a couple of minutes before we have to do other things, and because I haven’t been in here in a while.
It’s been a rough month.
I’m keeping my head down, and slogging.
I’ll be back when I have some breathing space.
I hope everything went as well as it could for your brother in law yesterday. Chin up Holly.
Holly, I am thinking of you often this week and trying to send strong positive vibrations your way. At times like these there is no substitute for a loving family, friends and positive energy. Here’s wishing you all the positive energy you and your family need right now.
Holly, dear, breathe!
I hope everything goes well with your brother-in-law’s surgery. We’ll be here when you get back.
I send my best, I have retired due to ill health, CHF, I hope that all is better with you and yours…
Will continue to keep up with you as you journey on, and will fill in any thing you ask. PS: All alone and loving it in adult senior community with little dog Buddy. Keep writting and believing in goodness!, Yours, Eileenh
In unison with all of your other well wishers I send my best regards to you and your family. I have been so inspired by you through the years since I found you on the web. Life is tough most of the time… but I know you are tough as well. Tough and tender. So please take the time to rest and keep yourself in good health. You have so many things going for you as well as you have going… so don’t let your blessings turn into curses. I do pray, and I pray for you and your family and affairs at least every time you come to mind, which is about every day. I only know you from following your emails and reading your works and workshops and websites… but, I feel I know you as only a reader can. You are a wonderful person full of so much life and a true servant… so giving all the time. It has been one of my great joys to have found you and follow you in cyberspace. God bless you richly and profusely is my constant prayer for you. I wish you peace… stay strong.
When it rains, it pours! 🙁 I don’t pray, but I’ll send good vibes your way!
So sorry to hear about your friend, Holly. That so sucks. You’re still in my thoughts.

I am glad you found your old time friend. I pray for her to be able to bear courage and may the pains be lesser. I also pray for the early recovery of your brother-in-law. Your kindness and thoughtfulness will not be left unrewarded.
Hi mate,
The tax and foreclosure will pass one way or another. Three years later — trust me, I know. They’re just material STUFF. They are not important.
I am so glad you found your friend after all these years and I’m sure you value the short time you had.
I’ll pray for your brother in law and hope that he recovers healthy and functioning!
You are an amazing woman and I have endless respect for you. You will get through all this stronger for the experience (as you always tell us in HTTS).
I wish I could reach across the globe and give you a big hug and a cup of home made hot chocolate.
Remember to BREATHE !
love, Cheryl
HelloHolly,
What a month you’ve had. Loss of a lost friend just when you found her again, your brother in law, moving, the IRS tax thingy, HtRYN, HtTs, workshop bonues adnthe workshopit’s self, do you fell like Sissyphus and his big boulder?
I continue to hold you in my thoughts.
Please remember tp take care of yourself during this hard time in your life. It’s so hard to remember that when your world has just imploded taking you on a visit to your very own personal outer limits.
Don’t just work. Laugh, cry. talk to people you can trust, scream if you have to, break dishes [by accident if you need to.The stores have more ], have three bibble baths in a row if necessary, gather your children in even a little closer.
Whatever it takes to come out on the other side whole.
Alice
Wishing you well. I’m sorry about your friend and I hope your brother-in-law comes through. Take care.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend and brother-in-law.
Hang in there!
Sending good thoughts your way.
Holly-
Three candles will be lite for you, your family and the soul of your friend Sunday. He’s testing your faith. He won’t let you down. You’ll find tomorrows better than the yesterdays. That’s His way.
Respectfully,
Lifecoach
I agree with Mark on this one: You’re an inspiration Holly.
Condolences on loosing your friend, best wishes to your brother-in-law. Condolences again regarding tax & foreclosure: Being self-employed and having a nasty mortgage, I feel your pain.
Hugs & take care.
Holly, you are an inspiration. A life fragmenting and you still hold fast to your creativity. Most people, me included, would drop the important to look after the urgent, then later on try to catch up.
Take heart that the people you share with are thinking of you during this time.
Keep slogging, girl!
Hugs and best wishes. Please email me if you need help with anything you want read, checked, commented on, whatever. Happy to help out.
Sorry about your friend.
Totally understand the craziness though. I’m in your HTRYN class and so far behind it’s scary–because we’re buying our first house and closing & moving this month. It’s crazy busy like I’ve never had before. And all of this while helping a close friend escape an abusive partner. *hugs* to us all.
Holly,
My prayers are with you during all of your struggles. I have found with my struggles I want to write about them, but at a later date when they are not so raw.
Take care and God Bless.
It hurts me to say it, but you’ve found your friend just in time to reunite with her at the hardest time of her life. I’m so sorry.
We’re all with you! Take care!
Hugs. Lots of hugs! I hope life smooths out soon.
Sending out lots of good energy.
Wishing you well Holly. You have a strong community here that cares about you.
I’ll keep you in my prayers, Holly. Stay strong.
(((hugs))) and hang in there – just know we’re praying for you, and like always, we’ll be here when you get back.
Wow.
I am so sorry to hear about all the rough spots. My mom used to say “This, too, shall pass.”
Hang in there.
If that isn’t an exploded life, it is definitely a life with collateral damage. Glad you found your friend, so sorry you lost her so quickly. Best of thoughts for your brother in law. You set a strenuous example for us all to follow my dear. Thank you! And I must say, I was just getting ready to post on the boards but I will say it here, THANK YOU for the How To Think Sideways course. I am into Week Four and after many many years of reading many many books about the writing process, this course makes so much SENSE to me I cannot express my gratitude to you!! And the various clinics as well. They are all so in tune with the way I think that it is just perfect for me. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Keeping you and your family in our thoughts. Hope everything improves for you.
I recently bought The Ruby Key and The Silver Door and enjoyed reading them. Your adolescent books are a fun read. Thanks, Amy
Hang in there, Holly. I hope everything starts leveling out soon…
…and I’m sorry about your friend. 🙁
