I’ll be doing How To Revise Your Novel

I forgot to post this here yesterday, but I’ll be creating the How To Revise Your Novel course. The response was … ah … pretty convincing. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m currently collecting your questions about the revision process, and your comments about the parts of the process as you do it now that give you the most trouble.

I have a short poll and comment box up on HowToReviseYourNovel.com—if you’re interested in the course, please head over and let me know where you need help.

Did 669 today this is topical becouse I’m planning on revising book two at the start of next year if not sooner. The rough draft of this work looks to be done around Thanksgiving. I know this is early in the process will it be aval. by Jan 2010?

I’m gearing up to start writing lessons now. I’d like to take the thing live by the end of November. Earlier if at all possible. I’ll do what I did with Think Sideways and write lessons a few weeks ahead of the first class so I can work the feedback I get into the next lessons.

Having rarely made it to the revision stage in my fiction writing, I feel that having a firm starting point would be helpful to me. I need something concrete so that the mountain of revision necessary does not overwhelm me and make me run away from the draft.

The firm starting point would be http://HowToThinkSideways.com

If you routinely aren’t making it to the end of the book, you’re struggling with a planning/process/writing problem, not a revision problem.

I had to clean out my Pocket Full Of Words directory after that overwhelming response. ๐Ÿ™‚

135 comments and counting as of this morning. Yep, I would say you were given a resounding “yes!” to that question. I’m really looking forward to you doing this as you have a wonderful way of putting techniques together in a very understandable and inspiring way (and with a touch of humor). Do you have a tentative month you are hoping to get this together for? Selfish of me, but I’m hoping for December so I can attack one of last years Nano novels just after the November madness ends.

It’s time to start saving up!

Will it become part of How to Think Sideways?

No. I’ll do it as a separate, stand-alone course. That way, folks who just want to revise an existing novel but who don’t want to commit to learning writing from a career perspective can get what they need. And Think Sideways folks won’t end up paying for another four months of course tacked on to the end of HTTS when they may find the improved HTTS version of One-Pass Revision sufficient.

And I won’t have to charge $47/month for the additional months. I’d like to come in lower than that on How To Revise Your Novel.
