How the Plot Clinic’s coming

Not that I’m a tease or anything, but…

Question, Twist, and Cliffhanger are done. So is the intro to Structures. Today I want to get Character, Theme and Concept, and Crisis. Each of the tools is running just over a thousand words, and there are now twenty tools. The Tools section will make up the majority of the book with Plotting Before Writing, During Writing, and During Revision taking between 10K and 20K.

Better yet, it’s coming out funny. The plot I’m building as the demo has already taken some startling leaps. It’s turning into a book I actually want to write.

Holly, I’ll take your advice, because that’s the philosophy I have on learning about most any other subject. I agree, you need to take from everywhere and everyone you can.

I’ve always known I could open up a fascinating fictional world, but I have never been able to give it any structure. Everything was just a haze. And then – boom – I ran into your site and things started to fall into place.

Again, I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve offered here.

Sportinglife–people take different approaches to writing. Mine is to read every book on writing I can get my hands on, as well as books about everything else, and fiction in every genre and for every age group and both genders.

I figure everyone has something to teach me. In some cases, that something has been how not to write a writing book, but even that is useful information.

Wow, as starved as I am for this thing, that’s really quite fast, three chapters and 20k worth of tools. Go Holly!

I’ve never been into how-to writing books. I’ve written my entire life, maybe that’s why? Who knows. I not saying that how-to books are beneath me. I’ve just never found any I’ve liked.

I’ve never written a book, which is what I’m working on now. And, Holly, you are the only person I’ve come across with helpful writing stuff I “get” immediately. You’ve been a good resource, and this plot book looks most intriguing.

Just wanted to say thanks very much.

*giggle* about the demo plot turning into a book you want to write.

Yes, you are teasing us, and yes, we will be keeping a daily eye on your progress to make sure we can snatch it up the moment it comes out. ๐Ÿ˜€

I can’t wait to get my hands on this.

    Oh you tease.

No, seriously, this looks awesome, Holly! I agree with TinaK, I’ll gladly test the book for you.

Holly – please put me on the list as a tester for this clinic when it comes out. I’d love to help getting it ready for the general public.

    So… since I haven’t seen anyone ask… are you aiming for mid-April, end-of-April, or as-long-as-you-can-stand-to-torture-us?

I like what I’m seeing so far. Another PC based writing software tool that you might want to mention is Simon Haynes’ yWriter (http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter3.html), currently on version 3. It has been very popular during NaNoWriMo, and best of all – it’s free! ๐Ÿ™‚

Can’t wait to read the full clinic.

Fibber! You know you are teasing us, keeping us on the edge of our keyboards. And I’ll be here daily watching that progress ticker cause I like being teased…apparently.

Serendipity in action — my worldbuilding is chugging along, and I ought to be ready to plot just as your clinic comes out.

    Sounds awesome…do you take preorders?

But you are a dreadful tease! *Sob*

Just kidding. It sounds likes it’s going swell, and I know I am looking forward to it.
