HAWKSPAR copyedit done — 24 Comments

  1. Oh, you can bet that when Hawkspar hits the shelf, I’m buying 3 or 4 copies. I loved Talyn, and I can’t wait for more stories in Korre. Keep at it Holly, you’re my favorite author. You’ve shown me what the writing career will be like, and you’ve shown me what it means to perservere through it. You just rock.

  2. Checking for Talyn at the bookstore (when I get a chance to head that way) was already on my to do list; if it’s there, I plan on picking it up as well. (Closest bookstore, not counting a certain Mart o’ Walls, is an hour away =( ) Will definately be getting Hawkspar when it hits the shelves, as well. Looking forward to both of them!

  3. I just picked up a hard copy edition of Talyn today. And I checked to see if the paperback was there and it was. I’ll make sure to pick up Hawksparre when it’s out.

  4. Is there anything we can do to help promote it? I mean, is it pre-orders that count this time, like LGD did, or actual, normal buying off the shelves? Does it get released in Australia at the same time as in America (ie, in time to make a difference to your sales figures)? If it does, I’ll go around and bug everyone I know to buy it!

And of course I’ll buying it for myself! I don’t think I can stretch to more than one copy, especially in hardcover, but I’d love to get it into other people’s hands. I can’t wait to see how you made it better, considering the snippets you posted long ago were fantastic as they were.

Well done and congrats in general!

  5. What do you mean your books are off the shelve in 15 minutes? I still see copies of Talyn on the bookshelves all the time. Lol

Congrats, just one more thing off your plate.

  6. Excellent news. I always buy your books, too, and for the same reason Tina does.

You’ve done so much to help me with my writing, I figure it’s the least I can do.

I can’t really buy multiple copies right now, but if the day ever comes that I’m rolling in cash, I’ll definitely do what I can to pass some of it along.

In the meantime, there are always good thoughts and prayers going up from me for you.

    Thanks again, Holly!

  7. I’m so happy this turned out well for you in the end, Holly. Well done 🙂

PS – Talyn is definitely on the shelves at my uni bookstore here in Australia 🙂

  8. Guess I’ll add a “me too!”

Talyn was on the shelves at B&N in San Antonio when I was there last month–I know ’cause I bought a copy for a friend. We were exchanging Xmas presents early, because this year my wife & I won’t be flying in.

    Who said it wasn’t around?

  9. Super News!

I have four copies of Talyn. Two in hardback and two in paperback. I’m giving away a copy as part of the pot for inaugural Great Tea Debacle a few of us have gotten together to do during the month of November. Whether I mail one that I currently possess or purchase one to send depends on the location of the winner.

Talyn was one of the books that I put down when I finished, and then thought about it for many days. I imagine Hawkspar to be the same. Perhaps it will be a prize for the next Tea Debacle.

  10. i can’t wait to read it!
I’ve seen a few copies of talyn floating round australia, there was a copy being sold next to terry prachett in adelaide, one next to stephen king in melbourne and the guy who owns the fantasy book shop in brizzy i know is a fan and has a couple on shelves 🙂
at least it’s all in one piece though which i’m sure you’re relieved about 🙂

  11. Aye, I’ve still seen Talyn holding water several places around my area too. I’m kinda living on the edge as far as money goes, so I can’t be quite as charitable as other readers, but I’ll still pick up a copy when it comes out.

    Congrats. And good fortunes. :3

  12. 15 minutes? Are you kidding? There’s always a copy or two of Talyn at my book store and since I’m pretty sure I bought mine there, it’s not the same one :).

I’ll be picking up a copy too. Can’t wait to see how it came out. Thank goodness for coming full circle after all that craziness.

  13. I can’t wait till it comes out. This is great news, Holly. I’ll buy copies for my friends, too. (I did that with Talyn, but probably too late to make a difference for your sales; it’d been out a while at that point…)

  14. Another great book to add to my collection! I recommend your books to everyone I know.

If I ever finish mine and it just half as good as your stories, I will have accomplished something.

  15. Thanks for all your wonderful books, and for all the hard work and fight you put into this book. I’ll be getting up early to buy it on the day it comes out.

  16. “Probably for about fifteen minutes, as was Talyn.”

If it helps any, I’ve always seen it on the shelves in the various bookstores in my area.

I’m very glad Tor did right by you.

  17. Awesome! I love to hear happy stories about publishing gone good. And based on the snippets I’ve seen, I’m even more excited about Hawkspar than I was about Talyn. It sounds like it’s about time to go book pimping… 🙂

  18. Congratulations, Holly. I’m so happy for you! You deserve to have that book out there the way you intended it. I can’t wait to get my copy.

And thanks so much for all the awesome work you do for us, the wannabe writers. You’re an inspiration.

  19. I am so thrilled to hear this and man, I can’t wait until it hits the shelf because in those fifteen minutes I’m buying 3 or 4 copies. My husband and kids noticed one day I have 4 copies of Talyn in hardcover and 5 copies in paperback (not counting what I purchased and gave as gifts) and asked why. I said because I’m supporting an author who does fantastic work and that I admire greatly. Holly, you’ve given me the most realistic glimpse into what it really is to be a writer and that has been invaluable to me. And because of that, even if your books were crap (which I haven’t found any that were) I’d still buy multiple copies of each to support you.

So bravo on finishing the copy edits! Bravo on fighting to get the whole book published and bravo for being so real and so honest with your readers.
