I had a very nice writing-experience while taking the train for the first part of my weekend-trip. I had forgotten that I actually can write quite well while travelling. It doesn’t always work out, but this time I got 526 words! It’s been nearly a month since I last wrote more than 500 on one day.
And the best part is, I quite like what I wrote and think that the story is finally really moving forwards again.

872 hard fought words today (err, Saturday. I’m always a day behind so I thought I’d just stick with it instead of double-posting on Sunday). Finally brought the scene (chapter?) to a close. It’s about 9 pages long. lol. It feels really good to have accomplished that section since it was giving me so much trouble. And my muse came through for me. Joy. I guess she was right to keep prodding me to let her have a chance to come up with something [I must say, it’s so weird to talk about my sub-conscious in the 3rd person]

Slow slogging yesterday, didn’t report in I think the problem is there is so much preamble when I go to action things flowed like a river. Did 814 words not a personal best but decent I think I’ll stick with the action keep things moving forward. Felt good.

Slow, slow. 21 words under quota after getting used to 4x and 5x quota. That’s what I get for feeling spoiled.
And just realizing that after a long trip to the store to get a lot of stuff, I have to turn right around and go back and get my notebooks, because I forgot them.
    *sigh*

603 for me today (Saturday). I haven’t done much writing during my vacation, but it’s back to work on Monday so I’m sure I’ll get back into the writing every schedule when I start back.

I took Thursday and Friday off, so no word counts for either day. It is Saturday. I am reworking my Sentence and timeline to see if the narrator I found last week would work in the long run.

I’ve been MIA! My day job gears up at the end of July through August and i work alot of overtime. Back to school, 3 teen daughters, ’nuff said.

This weekend I’ll be doing edits for my futuristic romance novella coming out in January. The editor said there weren’t many, so that is good. Oh, and the months are filling up so I should get the next story in the series in asap. So changing gears yet again. Back to Galactic Game, full speed ahead.

1617 words for me for Friday. They’ll have to last – I’m slammed with a nonfiction deadline this weekend. Boo!

A rainy night. A candy bar scene delivered by my muse with a big black bow on it. 3734 words. Fun:)

I am learning so much reading all the posts here. Thanks, everyone! Thanks, Holly!

300+ words. It’s fine. (I only had 45 minutes free.)

I basically took the day off from writing even though I managed to get 200+ words. I finally took the plunge and signed up for “How to Think Sideways.” I am nervous because it is almost football season when life gets exstremely busy. This should be a great ride!

      Hey Lisa,

Let me know how HtTS goes. I have been umming and ahhing over it for a long time. I !definitely! want to do it some day, but just not sure if now is the right time. Ie, not when I’m already a third of the way through a story and just about to buy a house so will be absolutely skint trying to pay off a mortgage!

Good luck! I would totally purchase it and start the course in a heart beat if I had a credit card. But I don’t so that poses a little problem both in getting her books and the course, so I’m trying to glean as much info as I can from the free stuff until I do get one.

833 words, not to my goal, but I took the evening off since I was tired and brain dead. Still working in Chapter 8.

Hopefully I can write today, but I have a lot planned, so I may not.

320 words yesterday. A lot of thinking involved, a lot of talking back and forth between me and my muse, and a surprising denouement, which left me feeling happy.

    A good day.

Normally take Fridays off, but I sat down to see if I could salvage what I thought was a dying scene and proved to myself that I simply CANNOT judge my work when it’s fresh. What I thought was a crap scene has turned into a powerful turning point. I had a lot of fun with it and got 1027 words.

    1. Sarah Collins Avatar

That’s awesome! And I can relate – after I “put it down” and come back to it later, I either love it or I hate it. Cheers for loving it!

True story. I swear on my grave.

I was out walking my dog, don’t remember the exact time, but it was a couple hours after the sun went down. Now, I see stray cats around where I live all the time (my dog would barely perk her ears if she saw one). So, there I was, walking my dog out to the street in front of my house – it’s a side street and doesn’t have much traffic – and I’m looking around. I happened to look up and was really blown away to catch the beginning of a lunar eclipse. It dawned on me; I’d heard something about that on the radio earlier that day, but had forgotten all about it. Enthralled, I stopped to watch the eclipse, but soon found I couldn’t watch it anymore. Something more interesting was happening, right down here.

They showed up, one cat after another cat – until there must have been twenty or more. All of them gathered. They sat down in the middle of the street like it was their own little movie theater. It was the strangest sight ever, seeing all those little cat eyes staring up at the eclipse like that. They never made a peep. When it’s over, they left in the same fashion, one after another. Weird, huh?

Sorry the post’s so long. But this memory is really sparking my muse (and story worth ideas) and I couldn’t resist.

I’ve had a heck of a time getting this scene done. It just would not come together. My Muse and I have rewritten it 3 times. Finally, yesterday (your today), something came together in the 487 words I got down. Hope it comes to closure today so that I can move on. I am, at the very least, satisfied.

Thank god it’s Friday! I was so unexpectedly exhausted I barely even got the day job work done! The muse was throwing ideas and really wanted me to get going, and I did write the start of a new scene (150ish words) but just didn’t have the mental clarity to really put pen to paper. And after running a bunch of must-do errands and speed-cleaning, I’m just going to call it a night and get back at it tomorrow.

    Cheers to everyone else though.

    550 words.

I’m still jet-lagged at this point. I’m so tired I can barely think but I wanted to at least get something down before going to bed.

The sheriff is talking to the villain (who the sheriff doesn’t realize is a bad guy) in late night/early morning and is realizing something’s very wrong with the man. But he’s opened up about hunting vampires and the villain appears to be opening up. After all, they’re on the same side. As soon as the sheriff convinces him to open the door, it will be bad for the sheriff.

Still here… Just not getting many words down so haven’t been updating.

I think I have The Sentence, though since I’ve never written the official Sentence before not sure if it’s the real deal:

The fate of a world rests on an unusual young woman’s ability to overcome a malevolent overlord, but first she must discover who she really is, amidst friends and enemies who are not what they first appear.

So now to try and get some actual words…

    Still working through Chapter 7.

Today a nightmare was given life. And blood was spilt in great streaks of crimson agony.

And this battle has only begun…

    Word count for today: 557

    1. Sarah Collins Avatar

You certainly got my attention w/ that!

      1. Jim Mitchel Avatar

        Cool, thanks!

Chapter 7 has turned out to be my longest chapter so far, and the battle that takes place here has just begun. It’ll probably take me the rest of next week to finish the chapter up. Hopefully the writing next week will go smoothly.

An exhausting day. Despite the cold spring and a late start my garden has decided it is now or never. Who the heck needs 10 bags of frozen green beans anyway. Maybe next year I’ll plant grass.

I did get 320 words and Jarrod is about to hear a rat speak and experience a literal pain in the ass.

I just lost what few words I managed to write due to a sudden computer failure (I hate them, but oh how I need them). Too tired to rewrite it just now, so I’ll just write it tomorrow, it’ll probably turn out better that way anyway.

  24. Danielle Lanois Avatar

291 words today after taking yesterday off to work at the theatre… I realize that I may have to take a hiatus from writing to finish this show, which sucks. Unfortunately, there just aren’t enough hours in the day. But I’m not giving up just yet!!

  25. Clare K. R. Miller Avatar

524 words today, despite my sister interrupting me… might have gotten more done if she didn’t.

Wrote 1,000 words today. Felt nice to actually write something – even if most of it was arguing with my characters. I decided I would try to write 100k by the time I leave for school in two weeks…and that has prompted the worst writing week I’ve had in a long time. So I dropped my goal way down, to try to get 1,000 words each day. That will be MUCH easier I think… 🙂

I’ve been playing along at home. I don’t know what SLM was at when WABWM started, but it’s currently at 44,470, for a gain of 7,076 since August started. That’s more than I think I wrote all last MONTH. This little-bit-a-day method really works. And funny how a little bit sometimes turns into a lot. 🙂
