Field Marshall???

Sheila had this test in her weblog, and I tried it. Gave the answers my very best shot, and this is what I ended up with.

Dunno. Doesn’t sound much like me, I don’t think.

ENTJ – “Field Marshall”. The basic driving force and need is to lead. Tend to seek a position of responsibility and enjoys being an executive. 1.8% of total population.

I use the Myers-Briggs as a means of anchoring certain characters so they don’t get pulled towards my own INTJ type. I refer particularly to the descriptions of the extroverts and the SPs; neither of those comes naturally.
And yep, I think ENTJ sounds pretty close for you, Holly.

Well, I’ve taken that test three times so far.

    First I got: ISTJ
    Then: ESTJ
    Now: INTJ

INTJ, I agree with: "Scientist". Most self-confident and pragmatic of all the types. Decisions come very easily. A builder of systems and the applier of theoretical models. 2.1% of total population.

    Now I’m happy.

Has anyone taken one of these tests as their characters? I just did (that was a lot of fun, actually — and my answer for "Write a uniquely relevant test question which would identify someone with your personality" is probably going to play merry hell with their system)… my MC is an ESTJ. I had a feeling about that.

The test worked fine. I tested (again) as an INFJ. I cant’ seem to shake it! lol

    Guess that’s me. 🙂

Holly, I see you as a leader. Yessiree. I think the assessment was accurate.

INFJ – "Author". Strong drive and enjoyment to help others. Complex personality. 1.5% of total population.

I took this several years ago through work. The thing I found most interesting was to look at my opposite. I was INTP so I looked at ESFJ. Read the description of your opposite and decide if you could spend five minutes with that person.

    Introverted (I) 63.64% Extroverted (E) 36.36%
    Intuitive (N) 58.82% Sensing (S) 41.18%
    Thinking (T) 56.82% Feeling (F) 43.18%
    Perceiving (P) 64.1% Judging (J) 35.9%

    Your type is: INTP

INTP – "Architect". Greatest precision in thought and language. Can readily discern contradictions and inconsistencies. The world exists primarily to be understood. 3.3% of total population.

Matches the full MB profile that I did at work reasonably well, so the test is reasonably accurate. So I would tend to trust your profile as well, Holly.

Did you follow the links to the more detailed description of type at http://www.typelogic.com, including famous persons of your type? For INTP, the descripton begins "INTPs are pensive, analytical folks. They may venture so deeply into thought as to seem detached, and often actually are oblivious to the world around them." Famous INTPs include Albert Einstein, Sir Isaac Newton, Socrates, and Jung (obviously estimated from their writings, but…:)

For ENTJ’s, the description at http://www.typelogic.com/entj.html includes the paragraph: "ENTJs are decisive. They see what needs to be done, and frequently assign roles to their fellows. Few other types can equal their ability to remain resolute in conflict, sending the valiant (and often leading the charge) into the mouth of hell. When challenged, the ENTJ may by reflex become argumentative. Alternatively (s)he may unleash an icy gaze that serves notice: the ENTJ is not one to be trifled with." Famous ENTJs include GEN Schwartzkopf, Harrison Ford, Steve Martin, Whoopi, Patrick Stewart, Al Gore and Newt Gingrich (proof that politics makes strange bedfellows :). Their cited fictional ENTJ is Geordi LaForge. (That’s better that their fictional INTP, one of the characters on the cartoon Rocco’s Modern Life…)

    I got:
    ISFJ
"Conservator". Desires to be of service and to minister to individual needs – very loyal. 13.8% of total population.
Hm. I’m not entirely sure about the accuracy of that one, but I think I’d probably agree with the profile it gave you.

I’ve been immersed in James White’s Sector General Series of late. If you know the series, you’ll know the baroque twist my mind took when I saw a 4 letter code. (see http://www.sectorgeneral.com/articlesclassification.html).
At least you’re an oxygen breather.

In "Please Understand Me II," other ENTJs are George Marshall, Dwight Eisenhower, and Douglas MacArthur. The section describing this type ends with the following statement (p. 198-199), "While mating and parenting are highly important to the Fieldmarshals, these roles must sometimes take a back seat to their strong career drive, and to the enormous amount of time they spend on the job."

(Mating is used in the sense of choosing the mate, not necissarily the actual act) Decide for yourself, but I see some parallels. ENTJs are described as the "leaders of leaders," and that isn’t too far-fetched either. Face it, you’re rare. Take a moment to enjoy it. 🙂

Well, there’s certainly something to it. You do run this site to help give others behind you an easier time of things. You’re constantly posting items to share ideas that you think are important. And, without knowing you, it sounds like you tend to let others lean on you rather than expect to lean on them.

I’d say that’s shows a certain need to lead and take on responsibility.
