Doing WARPAINT print version final corrections today #wabwm

My readers burned the midnight oil, and a bunch of them got their bug-hunt finds in to me.

I spent the weekend AWAY from the book so I would be able to actually see it today. Did what was to have been a cool promo video for WARPAINT instead—except, A) it was dumb, and B) I couldn’t get sound to work on YouTube anyway. So the weekend was a dead loss.

There’s something wrong with Screenflow 4.0.1 that’s generating dead-sound errors in YouTube (and in other software I’ve been using. I’ll HAVE to get this fixed, because Screenflow is how I create the video parts of courses. Or find something that will work.

But not today. Today, WARPAINT.

Oh. An aside.

Several folks have suggested that I get in touch with the Minecraft community to let them know about the free Minecraft maps (plural—I have the space station about ready to go up, too).

I have no idea how to get the word out to Minecraft folks.

Do any of you?

You’ll probably catch this here first:

Note about word processors and smart quotes (I know word does this and it carries over during the conversion process into ebooks): The endquote on a sentence ending with an em dash always faces the wrong way. I just drop the quotes in then insert the em dash.

caught that in Warpaint. Can I get an Emergency Cookie?

Reading Warpaint has got me extremely paranoid. And here I thought the outlawing of cloning in my series universe was being paranoid. LOL

And back to writing – 1244 words for me today and I feel another word splurge coming on!

Hooray for Warpaint progress! So proud of you Holly, my mentor! I’m so excited for this project 😀

*(As my own aside, you once had a discussion on “how to critique”, and a list of key points one might give to anyone offering to help crit our manuscripts… where did that end up? G search engines are failing me today)*

Thanks. It’s going slowly, but I introduced a WHOLE bunch of new mistakes when doing my editor revision, and because of compressed time, did not give my editor the manuscript to go over again once it was done. This led to my readers having just a gawdawful lot of mistakes (one reader found 188, and while I don’t consider all of what he found mistakes, most of them were.

Got through most of the fixes yesterday. Finishing them up today, adding in the end matter and the ACKS, and I HOPE getting the print book into CreateSpace.

NOT going to do the next book this way. I’m giving myself TIME for that one.

The crit rules are in the Schrodinger’s Petshop Writer’s Handbook. Writers/ How To’s/ How to Choose A Writers’ Group/ Handbook. 😀

No pressure from me. I can wait, because I know how much it means to you to get it all done right before publication. I’m super excited because of the efforts you’re putting in w/o saying “F@#! it!” and because I understand both how difficult it is to keep plugging away til it’s done and how awesome you are going to feel once it hits the Net. This will be a huge success for you, on many many level, and it will be one more great example to hold up to your students on how to knuckle-down and gitterdone.

(mussed up my email address, but fixed it here)

Greetings Holly,

There are two websites you can use to get in touch with the Minecraft community.

1) Planetminecraft.com
2) minecraftforum.net

it sounds like you know how to share the maps, but if you need help I know a thing or two, and so do the sites.

Thanks Alan’s son, David.

Thanks for posting these links.
I had a Minecraft account back in 2010, all paid for. But never really used it (beyond one day). (It just sucked up too much of my time).
So of course, now that I’m anxious to tour the station and spaceships for Warpaint, I can’t login.
so frustrating cause they haven’t responded to my webform (3 weeks ago).
I just sent a different webform (based on a link at the site)- hopefully they’ll get back to me this time.

Hello Holly,

I posted the response before I saw I was too late. Dang. It seems that OT at work, and a few other fun items life wanted to throw my way, put me at the tail end of the pack. Oh well, Let me know when Warpaint will be up. I would like to get it.

Thanks Alan.

Folks are SPEEDY! Very cool!

Holly – my stuff will be in your hands in about 2 hrs. Just checking it over now and organizing it.

Poop on the video fiasco – wish I had some words of wisdom but I do not.

And now, back to work….
