Cover art for Courage of Falcons — painting by Fred Gambino
The falcons, the storm-filled sky, the young woman with sword drawn are all beautifully executed. I don’t know why Kait has suddenly become a blonde, unless it’s so she doesn’t disappear into the storm cloud, as she might if her hair were the black it should be. And why she started buying boots from Wal-Mart, I’ll never know. Those are quibbles — overall the painting is beautiful, and evocative of the mood of the book.
As with Vengeance of Dragons, I didn’t know what my cover would look like until the finished flats showed up at the house. I got my say early, and then held my breath and hoped. I think I was pretty lucky.
