Character Surgery

Well, on the bright side, I got 3700 hard-fought words on Lesson 12 of HTRYN.

On the dark side, I’m too freakin’ fried to do any fiction.

So.

How are your words coming along?

Hi Holly, I have just discovered all your wonderful material and have started going through it. Have written 3,400 words in characterisation sketches from your Character Clinic – such fun, and although it is not word count for the novel, I am getting to know my characters a lot better.
Thanks so much for sharing your expertise. Joanna

No typed words; I’m working through the free modules from the HTTS sign-up sheet. (Hardcore; thanks, Holly!!) I’m just going to lurk for a couple of days and and focus on work and word count. School starts again next week, and I’d like to be further along than I was at Christmas break. 😀

Nothing of significance. But determined to do something, I wrote 539 words of thoughts. I really need a vacation!

The Princess, still dressed in a Guard uniform, takes a lift up to the docks and the door opens on a firefight. And she’s on the side with the Guards. With her crew and the escaped slaves on the other side. The sergeant in charge of the Guard detail grab The Princess and she’s really worried until she realizes they’re waiting for orders. So, she says that they shouldn’t worry no matter how bad this looks because she’s got a plan and she goes over to the slaves to act as a “negotiator”. They use the Princess as a “shield” while she’s giving the thumbs up to the Guard that she’s got everything under control.

We’ve switched to Faurel’s point of view for a brief interlude while he and Maithel take care of Erthel, after whatever happened in the previous scene that I’m not gonna tell because it’s spoilertastic… well, happened. Faurel realizes what Erthel actually meant when she tried to explain to him her trouble with “the gift”, and begins to see her in a different light.

A little backround on the Darkside, and a few more issues between two characters than I expected. . . But over all, I think it’s for the good.
