And On My Plate Today

By Holly Lisle

Words. Lots of them. With a starting point of 56,920.

I have, however, a gorgeous new keyboard. My Yule present, received last night. A Microsoft Wireless Comfort Keyboard with wireless mouse. It worked perfectly with the Mac straight out of the box, all the button presets automatically picking up my linked system defaults. Its curved keyboard keeps my wrists perfectly straight when I type, its keys have an excellent tactile feel without any mushiness, a nice firm click (but QUIET) that is perfect for a touch typist. The mouse … well, I’ll have to see about the mouse. I’ve gotten used to my Logitech optical trackball, and I’ll have to see if I can adapt my way of working back to mousing. I will say that it was a breeze to configure; I have a tiny, tiny space for a mouse on my desk, and I had no problem switching it to maximum sensitivity to counter that. It does have side scrolling on the mouse wheel. I looked for sites that pushed me to side scroll so I could test it out, but didn’t hit any (I was testing last night in the middle of having all these amazing ideas about "C" so, to be fair, I didn’t do a LOT of testing. Mostly just writing like mad.

Anyway, that’s what I’ll be doing more of today. I’ll keep the WIP bar updated. I’m looking for three thousand words today, will accept two thousand if I have to.

But it wouldn’t exactly break my heart if I could creep up toward four thousand again. That was a lot of fun.
