And … and … Serenity!

Wow. Just … wow.

Spoilers would be criminal, so you won’t find them here. If you haven’t watched Firefly, Serenity will be a good, exciting, and comprehensible movie. If, however, you’ve seen the series, it becomes breathtaking.

So … what you do is, you buy or rent or talk a good friend into renting the whole series, you sit up one night and watch it from front to back (this can be done — I’ve done it), and then you go see the movie. Because it is too damned good a movie for you not to know how very, very, transcendentally good it is.

I watched Firefly for the first time 3 months ago and was hooked. I bought everything. I felt like Serneity was my home. Sniff, sniff.

I can’t wait to see it (I’m a huge Joss Whedon fan), thanks for the glowing review!

I have never seen firefly, but it is one of the ones that has been on the ‘to see’ list. Why is it on the list and not seen? Because I don’t have television in my home. Gave it up years ago and never regretted it. Except for a couple of little things like Firefly and Bab-5.

Unfortunately, it only made 10 mil over the weekend (beat out by Flightplan which has already been out for a bit). Firefly was never a big overseas hit, which doesn’t bode well for Serenity to pick up that market in a big way. The dh says they need to make 50 mil at least if we want to see anything ever again. And obviously if they brought it back to tv, it would never been the same without you know who(s) . . .

We went for a second time today. For us to a see a movie twice is extraordinary. Twice in two days — that was a first.

I too was a huge fan of the series, which was cancelled far too quickly by Fox… I’ve also seen the DVDs a few times 🙂
I was looking forward to the movie but was afraid I would be disappointed. I usually am when I am looking forward to a movie.
I was not disappointed. It was all that made the series so good and more. It stayed so true to the series yet added to it, and yet you could still enjoy it not having seen the series (I took a friend who hadn’t, and she enjoyed it a lot).
Excellent! I plan on going again.. and maybe again… Anything to encourage this sort of quality!

I like that layout a lot. Especially the colours. 🙂

And the comments are easier to read.

My Firefly boxed set is almost worn out. I will never understand why they cancelled the show.

*sigh* Wish they’d hurry up and release Serenity over her in the UK.

    Serenity…Wow. Just wow.

If that movie doesn’t revive the franchise, I am going to go find me some Hollywood execs and beat them over the head with my Firefly boxed set.

    Holly,
Also like the new layout but if you’re still experimenting, have fun. 🙂
Planning to see Serenity this weekend but haven’t seen Firefly. Will try to remedy.

The current layout is temporary. I’m attempting to switch the whole site over to CSS layouts to conserve bandwidth. This is just a borrowed template — the one I made for myself I did with tables.

When I have the time, I’ll put together one I like better.

    I like the new layout.

As for Serenity, it was Fantastic. Yeah, my family and I had an all day marathon as well.
We’ve loaned our copy out already and another person wants to borrow it after him.

You think FOX is regretting their cancellation?

Wow! Layout shock! I like the overall lay out but the colors don’t seem very you. 🙂 Good work.

Serenity is now on my “too see” list.

  • Jenne Sep 30, 2005 @ 22:26

My friends were all doing a Serenity marathon today before going to the movie, but I couldn’t join in. I hope I’ll be able to see it soon– it sounds wonderful! And I have a wee crush on that guy.

Wow! The new layout surprised me when I first saw it. It’ll take some getting used to, but it’s nice.

I’ll have to go see Serenity. I’ve read nothing but good reviews.

You know what they say when writers use one word too many times. 🙂

    Glad you liked the movie.
