696 words, and CRAZY week

I’ve written thousands of words this week, and designed web pages, and installed software, and built forms and site foundations.

But tonight, I made time to work on my ghost story again, and got 696 words.

The story flowed, I got a nice twist to end the scene, and a heart carved into a tree turned out to be much more meaninful than I’d imagined when I tossed it into the first scene.

So. How about you? Good words? Cool ideas. Anything fun going on with your writing?

Another 1111 words tonight. Wrapped up chapter six and starting with a fresh chapter tomorrow.

My notes are serving me well after going through Holly’s create a plot clinic. I went through all the clinics again before starting this new novel and it’s paying off for me so far. I’ll definately make a habit of doing this for the prep stage of any new novel.

I am just revising my works in progress and was taken with your advise Holly about not overdoing it… I try to cram too much in and don’t achieve anything. Baby steps for me in future…

I’m still horrible at plotting but, luckily, today my characters seemed to be smarter than I am. Don’t ask me how that works, I honestly don’t know! A knot unravelled itself today as I was going through the logic of the Gimmicks. Very happy about that.
And 1028 more words of a character interview. This is probably going to help me tremendously when I get to (re)write the story.

I’ve only just started WABWM since I thought it would be cool to give it a whirl. I’ve set myself a personal goal of 200 words per day since I’m not writing on a monitor, but in a smallish notebook and every page fits around 200 words (25 lines, 8 words per line. Maths. Urgh) which makes it easier to count. Does this matter? I hope not.
Anyways, figured out something cool about my world, which works wonderfully with the plot and helps me with the climax of the current plot thread (even though I’m not nearly up to it yet). Starting well. 🙂

Not sure where this belongs… I just (re)discovered a 450-word short story I once wrote. I vaguely recall writing it but I’ve no idea when that was. In which, a kid gets hit by lightning and survives, legally blind and somewhat crazy. Odd.

I’m settling in for the HTTS lesson 7 modules tonight. I’ve got some bits of “Pipes” worked out, and hopefully by this time tomorrow it’ll be ready to go. I’m trying to decide if the house in which most of the story happens is a special location or an actual character. Either way it’s got the antagonist position; the difference is mostly whether it’s an active hostile or a passive obstacle. Fun maps ahead! 🙂

I’ll begin my lesson 7 modules tomorrow, but I looked over the first one today. Nice to be in the same spot. 🙂

501 today after I laid down for a nap. Something in the book I was reading reminded me of a similar situation I had in mind and I was off. It’s nice when the words start to flow off my fingers like water. I will try not to look a gift-horse in the mouth (like I always seem to do) and just be thankful it’s happening again.

Making good progress this week. Wrote 1084 words yesterday and 1387 words today.

So far I like what I’m getting. I know it needs some definate polish later, but I can’t look at that now or I won’t get any further. This is book #2 for me, and it feels so much more put together than the last one did. I’m just going to plow through and fix everything in revision.

I’ve been applying Create a Character to my characters. One is flawed, badly! But I’m getting to know him better, and through him his friend who also plays an important part in the story.
I just love this getting to know characters. It’s awesome 🙂

Revised a scene down tonight. Netted 116 words. Also added a few words to the scene I revised last night so that things meshed together better.

No words today… unless writing background material counts.

I purchased your “Create-A…” world building bundle a few weeks back and I’ve been applying it to my current story idea. I can honestly say that because of your books, I have a better feel for how this story is going — characters, plot, setting, etc. — even though I haven’t written a single word of it yet — than other projects where I’d written pages and pages and pages.

Thank you very much for putting those guides together. 🙂

47 words for the 13th, while the kettle boiled for a much needed cup of tea. And on the 12th I wrote more than a hundred words for the first time in almost a month, 108. Not much maybe, but right now I’m happy with anything.

Got 556 today at lunch. That makes 5 days in a row now, so I’m hoping the glacier I’ve been frozen in is melting. I got in the start of a nice argument and some good forward plot movement. Happy with where I ended up, and it’s primed for a fast pick up tomorrow.
