Things shift like quicksilver without an outline — on of the heroes has become a villain on me, one of the villains a possible victim, or perhaps even a hero in disguise. The kids are smart but overwhelmed, the situation in which they find themselves would scare the snot out of me, and I’m entertaining myself vastly writing this thing.
There’s something to be said for going into a story with nothing done in advance. Will it be publishable? I have no idea. But it certainly is a lot of fun.
