If you’ve been waiting for the less-expensive, fit-the-shelves-better copies of Vincalis the Agitator to buy that one, you’ll be pleased to know that the mass market copies are available. I got my box of them yesterday; I usually get mine late, so they may have been on the shelves for a while without me seeing them (I don’t get out much.) Author’s copies are nice to get, though my favorites are still the box of Fire in the Mist that I received when that first came out. I took every single one of them out of the box, spread them out in a big block, and stared at them for … maybe an hour. It was a transcendent experience, the moment when dream became reality in a very tangible, visible, beautiful way, and nothing I’ve experienced with any of the later books I’ve written has quite equalled that one brief moment.

The nastier (and longer) of the two reviews came from someone who left the site in a huff, and apparently still has a chip on her shoulder. Nice.
It’s hard to feel bad about the review now, knowing who wrote it. It ceases to mean anything, though it’ll probably cost me a couple of sales. Who knows — maybe someday I’ll be able to return the favor.
But I kinda doubt it.

Ah, for joy, for joy. Afraid I did a bit of a skim-job, but that’s only one of two books I have to check proofs on this month, and I still have to finish the novel. How does life work out its timing . . . really? Still, all I have ahead of me today is unpacking the groceries and getting my 2400 words. Happiness is getting to do your pages, and today I will get to do mine.

Second day of slogging through proofs
I’m going to end up having to fax the corrections — there aren’t many, but the ones I’ve found have been important. So I can’t just let it slide. Likely no actual writing today, either.
And the fun thing . . . after I finish proofing Vincalis, I still have to proof Memory of Fire before the month is out.

Looked at the due date for Vincalis, realized that it had to be mailed tomorrow. So no writing today. I’m proofing. Ugh.
