The Queen of the World goes hiking

in Books, ON SPEC, TalysMana, Write A Book With Me

Kettan crossed paths with Nate. She’s having Viewer issues, and refusing to question her sanity in spite of some trying circumstances.

I’m getting a lot of the voice I want with this, though as usual, first draft is coming in pretty thin.

However, I finished the scene, and am putting it up over at Talysmana.com now.

957 words tonight, and I’m happy with the way the story is going.

How are you doing?

293 words, (and a lot of HTRYN work).

Zhaer is investigating the rumour he’s heard. He pretty much has proof it’s true, if he’s interpreting the captain of the guard’s reaction right, but that’s just making him more interested in digging deeper.

Hello all!
This is my first time, here though I’ve been to Forward Motion. . .
I got 800+ words tonight which surprised me a bit. I’m not sure I’m happy with them, but. . . Words.

I’m loving TalysMana! I’ve always liked the idea of my worlds actually existing SomeWhere. . .

This is my first time here too. I just registered. I’ m enjoying TalysMana very much. I didn’t win Nano this year but I’m still kind of in the daily writing mode and thought this sounded wonderful. Thanks for offering this for all of us.

763 words (12/4)
1036 words (12/5)
452 words (12/6)

So, after they’re away and heading out of the system, The Princess gets trained on piloting a freighter which is different from anything she’s ever flow before. But during her training, a message comes in and the ship is ordered to accept a boarding party from a rebel spaceship. They can’t fight. They can’t run. So the party comes on and searches the ship and takes a look at crew and cargo manifests. They ask for the crew to be assembled but allow The Princess to remain at the helm as the pilot. The boarding party takes The Bodyguard into custody for escaping from their jail and tries to leave the ship. But The Princess won’t open the shuttle bay doors. She argues about it with the Captain. The Captain takes control from her and lets the shuttle leave. There’s a big argument. She wants to go and get him back but the Captain is going to do what the Bodyguard told him to do.

Not much time spent on writing new words today. The plot has deviated a bit from my original and I need to sit down and think about the ramifications. I may do that tomorrow instead of writing new words.

I got through the first week’s worth of assignments for HTRYN and started on the second week’s. The Character Refocus part has already blown the top of my head open. There were a few things that were bothering me that I absolutely know how to fix. But I can’t fix them, yet.

1,553 words tonight, and at least 800 last night, though I don’t remember the exact count. I’m so excited! Holly, do you remember that section of HTTS where you talk about the toys your muse leaves lying around? Well, my muse just decided to pick up one of those toys and it was absolutely awesome to play with! I am so super excited! XD That and Ryan just won the fight against the main villain (I was on the edge of my seat there for a while because it looked like he was losing).

I am also loving Talysmana. I’m a sucker for those kinds of things. Anything that has to do with an artist’s or author’s creations coming to life or having a life of their own (Inkheart comes to mind)…That is definitely top on my “To-read” list.

“Toys On The Floor”—one of my favorite parts of thinking sideways. I’m delighted you’re getting something cool out of it.

And I, too, love worlds where creators’ creations come to life. With Talysmana, I’ve simply asked myself to look at ALL the different sorts of things people create…

1772 on Bx2

Re-started Bx2 with a better path to the end. Should be able to work in the other 13,000 words I wrote before.

573 split between Cait entering the jail and leaving the Speaker’s room. I was hoping to get more done since the latter scene is teetering on the edge of an ambush but couldn’t find the focus or get into the right mood for it.

I took the last few days off, other than tweaking one scene in response to a beta-reader’s technical comments to the tune of about 100 words.

The time off gave my backbrain the break it needed to solve yet another scene order/revelation of information problem. That’s been my biggest challenge, this book — how to reveal the information necessary in the most interesting order. I have the next five scenes more or less figured out (other than what the heck Angela will be doing in the scene that I feel needs to be in that sequence), so the next few days should be word-heavy.

Onward!

My writing time was soaked up working on my revision, reading, more reading and learning. I will be on lesson one for a while still, (long book and slow going.) No despair yet, even though I’m finding lots of big problems; its a first draft of a first novel, so my expectations were not high! Still loving what I wrote so far, and will revise it ten times if I have to : )
No words, even though I have an idea for something new and completely different to explore.

I’m behind on my words but had to come on here to say that I am really enjoying Talysmana! Can’t wait for the next chapter to arrive on Thursday.

No words this weekend. Worked through the 1st Lesson of HTRYN and started on the second. And last night I just allowed myself to do mostly nothing.

Going through HTRYN, you’ll need a bit of ‘doing nothing’ time so you don’t fry your wetware. :D

Wrote a new scene from scratch and got about a 1000 words on it. Moved on to the fifth to last scene (yes, I’m counting down my revision by scenes :D).

I liked what I got, and the scene also included a detail that explains why the Male MC is going to not be around while the Female MC ends up in a world of hurt. I like to keep her friendless as much as possible, and those two were getting far too chummy. :D

Just had a chance to read the latest installment of TalysMana. Got actual goose bumps when Kettan reached out and and felt a warm, calloused hand grasp hers. Ooooooo! Holly, this is fab!! I second the sentiment that’s run through this thread. It’s kind of what every writer dreams of — that somehow their created universes really do exist somewhere.
