The stressful family crisis finally resolved last night, and I feel like I can breathe again for the first time in a weeks. No guarantees that everything will stay all right, but they’re good for now, and that will have to be good enough. Since this involves me only as the mom, not […]

First, cheers to Kathleen Bolton of Writer Unboxed, who survived one-pass revision and got her manuscript in the mail.
Yesterday, I ended up doing a series of ever-decreasing tweaks on NIGHT ECHOES, bouncing stuff back and forth with my editor, until I finally finished at 6PM, just in time to take stuff for the burgeoning migraine […]

Of course.
Rule #1 in writing is Set goals.
Rule #2 in writing is Expect to see them wrecked at every turn.
I have no idea how long this is going to take, but I’ll be back. I will not be derailed.

Outlining on Create a Culture Clinic is done, and I actually made a start into the text of the book. (Not much of a start, granted, but I got words on the page.) Tomorrow I’ll shoot for 2000 words.
I’m shooting for both clarity and fun—we’ll see how that goes.

The Create A Culture Clinic (Worldbuilding II or WBII for short) is coming along nicely this morning. I’m plugging along on the outline, so I don’t have countable words on the progress bar, but I’m figuring out how to present the full process in a workable order.
Like all of writing, creating cultures […]

Heard from Anna (my Tor editor). HAWKSPAR could go two ways—divided into two books because it’s so long (and the hardcover version of TALYN did not take over the world) or seriously cut and kept in one book.
I’ve chosen option number two, because the book is one story, and cannot be made two stories, […]

I’m pleased to announce that Vision: The Writing Workshops is now available in the store in e-book form. $6.00.
I’d intended to start on the print workbook version for the Language Clinic today, too, but have run out of time. So that will be tomorrow, and Wednesday, and if I’m lucky, not […]

“A side note: I always thought Vincalis was an environmentalist allegory.”
Good. I could have hoped for no better outcome than that you found your own meaning in it.
I’m reminded of the lyrics of a song.
You can’t always get what you want
But sometimes …. you get what you need.
Once upon a time, you see, I […]

Excluding the rules for designing your own pair of safe socks (Anzi Talking Socks, or Quantum Socks), all the Quantum knitting stuff is up. I’m coming down with something, so the Safe Socks Rules will have to wait.

I’m about finished with the Quantum Socks knitting pattern—stunned by how tough it is to write a knitting pattern, by the way. After that, I’ll have to put together the Anzi Knitting Rules and the Anzi Mantras and a yarn color chart. I figure I’ll be able to post the thing in the […]
