Because nothing is ever easy

Monday, September 30th, 2002

Today we’re back to not knowing what’s wrong with my brother-in-law. It can’t be the infectious thing they were hoping it was, there are other alternatives, some of them are not too bad and some are.
But now we don’t know again.

Short update

Sunday, September 29th, 2002

The doctors found what look like brain lesions on the CAT scan. Matt is on his way to the hospital to meet his family there; I’m holding down the fort — and the phone — here. We have no details. I’m hoping for the best.

The days you don’t expect

Saturday, September 28th, 2002

I’m awake, have been awake all but two hours of the last twenty-four, and won’t have an opportunity to sleep until 7 pm tonight. These things happen. Close family on Matt’s side ended up in the hospital tonight, an unexpected health problem in someone in his twenties, and sleep isn’t an issue right […]

2153 words, and quiet celebration

Thursday, September 26th, 2002

I can’t say I’m through whatever has been the problem with the writing these past days — yesterday I got just under 500 words total — but today the writing went well. 2153 words, and a nice scene with Pete and Lauren that is running smoothly and that I’ll pick up again tomorrow. […]

This is the new server’s weblog

Tuesday, September 24th, 2002

Comments and karma work here — nothing got left behind. DNS is switching over erratically at the moment, so I’m hoping this posts in the right place. But … here I am, much faster than I thought I’d be here. I got the community opened and it seems to be working. […]

May be my last entry for a few days

Sunday, September 22nd, 2002

The site moves to its new server tonight. DNS stuff all has to be changed over, and that can take up to three days (72 hours) when things go right. When things go wrong, well — the FeaturePrice debacle and the one month of DNS errors demonstrated how wrong things can go when […]

The Bitter Triumph of Hamtaro

Saturday, September 21st, 2002

I got a bit over 1500 words today, but did not quite make it to the epic battle — though Thor, Loki, and most of the Sentinels are in the back of Thor’s pick-up truck (Thor’s chariot and goats, Tanngrsnir and Tanngnjstr, in disguise) and on the way to head off the keth. Unfortunately, they’re […]

And about Karma

Saturday, September 21st, 2002

>And pardon my ignorance, but what
>in heck is that Karma -/+ thing? (from the comments)
It’s something I just discovered how to use in the Greymatter template section, so I’m playing with it. Basically, if you find an entry and you think, “Yah, this weblog would be a lot more fun to read if […]

Looking for disaster

Saturday, September 21st, 2002

Today I need an epic battle. With Loki and other old gods on hand, and dark gods come looking to slaughter Lauren and end the worldchain’s hope of revival, and with a bunch of poor mortals thrown into the mix, an epic battle should be within my grasp. But there’s a problem.
The invidious, […]

Official Day Off [TM]

Friday, September 20th, 2002

Today is my official day off. I have nothing of substance to report today except that I am actually taking a day off. The guy came this morning and fixed the air conditioner, so it is not right at 100 degrees in here, and I am well into the first re-read I’ve done of […]
