I’m officially on Holiday Hours #wabwm

Getting the whole month of December off didn’t quite work out.

But I am taking off the rest of the month. I don’t remember ever having been this tired before, but I now have a chance to rest. Mostly. Sort of.

UNTIL MONDAY, JANUARY 7th, I’ll do Student Support on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It’s just me in there. Margaret is going on holiday, so it’ll mostly be me WITHOUT major techie backup, so big problems will be “as I can fix them” or “when Margaret gets back”.

On Monday, January 7th, I get back to work for real.

So what does next year’s work look like?

What Happens Next Year

First, I write CREATE A WORLD CLINIC. I have my outline in Scrivener, the first couple chapters are done already, and I’m FINALLY going to finish the thing. Starting in January.

Drip (the piece of software I needed to offer new BIG courses) is done and working. (Margaret built this, and it’s wonderful.) This is HUGE. It means I can do workshops with small class sizes and personal feedback, new bigger courses, and “textbook” classes for things like CREATE A CHARACTER CLINIC and the upcoming CREATE A WORLD CLINIC, where we’ll meet a few times in a single week, and I’ll crit your creations. Real assignments. Real deadlines. ๐Ÿ˜€ It’ll be fun.

Next year I’m bringing back the FULL, timed-lesson, everything-included version of How to Think Sideways. I have had a ton of requests to make the structured version with the walkthrough, all the downloadable stuff, the bonus course, and the community as a single purchase available again.

HTTS Direct will still be around, and still be a less expensive and unstructured alternative. HOWEVER, after the new year, HTTS Direct lessons will come off their extended introductory price. Individual lessons will be $5.99. The community + additional downloads option will remain available at the same price. When I have the Walkthrough finished, it will become available as a separate upgrade.

How to Write A Series will move to the new classrooms, and get the promised 6-lesson extension.

I’ll write THE EMERALD SUN.

How to Revise Your Novel will move to the new classrooms.

I’ll start WISHBONE.

I’ll begin doing some live (online) workshops.

These are not in sequential order, and I’m not putting dates on any of this. I’ll just work through the list, and get as much done on it as I can, take next December off (jumping up and down on this one), then pick up wherever I left off in January of 2014.

Okay, I thought I was excited when I read that you would be writing Create a World Clinic, then I read the words “Iโ€™ll write THE EMERALD SUN.” I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to read those words.

Still also very excited about Create a World Clinic. Can’t wait to get it.

That’s so cool. Thanks for letting me know. Still on vacation. Haven’t crept into my mailbox yet.

Congratulations Holly, and enjoy your well-earned break. I can’t wait to read some of your new material.

I’ve been getting 1-2 pages a day for the past while, excluding christmas and boxing day, so I’m extremely pleased about that. It seems to be a really comfy pace for me. I might ramp it up once I’m in a routine, but I’m going to give myself loooots of time to get really happy with this level of output first.

I hope your new year is as fantastic for you as it looks like it will be for your readers and students ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hey Holly,

I wish I had thought to suggest this sooner: I am giving Hunting The Corrigan’s Blood to my brother’s for Christmas. As I was buying it for them, I thought it would be cool if I could get HTGB & WP as a one purchase bundle, then they could have both books in one shot. (That is how I purchased Katharina Gerlach’s Amadi series)

Just something to consider for the future.

PS I just got my copy of Warpaint, can’t wait to read it ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for all you do Holly and congratulations on your new book – a definite “must read over holidays”.
I noticed a comment above from Jen enquiring about transferring from HTTS direct to the Full HTTS which you are planning to bring back. I’m just putting my hand up to say that I’m in much the same boat but I also have the Premium subscription. It would be very exciting if possible.
Do have a good well earned break before your plan for next year kicks in.

Too late to raise the price of HTTS, I’ve already bought them all! Neener neener! ๐Ÿ˜›

“Wishbone” is the next Cady novel, then? Makes me think of two vampires each grabbing one of Cady’s legs, saying “Make a wish!” and then pulling with their superhuman strength…

Hi Holly Merry Christmas and I hope you have the best Holidays ever.

    Holly,
Just finished Warpaint with tears in my eyes. I managed to keep away from it almost all day yesterday to read through my 58,000ish words from my November novel, but I did let myself read for an hour before bed. I woke up and decided to finish it so I could get back to my own writing.

Thanks. It’s very good. It pulled me inexorably through it’s core and spit me out the other side, leaving me a bit better than when I went in.

The fact that the authors notes were written about a week ago was very cool.

    Write on,
    Rob

Woo Hoo! How exciting! Doing the happy dance! OK – it morphed into the chicken dance! Oh happy chicken dance!

I do have a question though – I have purchased 4 of the HTTS series (the current one) but am interested in the “full, timed-lesson” version. Can I morph what I have into the other? If so, can you point out where I can read up on how to do that? Also, I’m assuming this would also tell what’s involved, etc?

Yes – that was more than one question.

And now – just because I’m feeling all OCD today – I’m going to post today’s words here, in today’s WABWM post: 1125.

    Now I feel better.
