We've gone to what's called a paleolithic diet. Fresh fruits, raw nuts, raw and steamed vegetables, lean meat. No sauces, no processed food, no grain products, no milk products, no tubers, no soft drinks or drinks other than water.

Our purpose for making the change was that both Matt and I were fighting elevated blood sugar and elevated blood pressure and weight gain, and we're both creeping into the age range where big bad things start happening.

The improvements were immediate and startling. The headaches were awful. But his went away yesterday. Mine is still lingering---but my system takes longer to clear things and to adapt than his. I expect my headache will go away in a day or two.

I was vegan for a few years, so this is actually a bit of a relaxation of standards compared to that. We were in awesome shape when we were vegan. However, the whole time I was vegan, I wanted to kill something and eat it. Small lean steaks, lean burgers, and jerky eliminate that particular craving.

What is it you're doing different? Anything you could share? I know I could stand to lose a few lbs.

I know exactly how that feels. I've been eating healthier since Jan 2. I've also taken up exercise again. The first few days of pop-free (or soda-free, for everyone else) days were the worst. Killer headaches. Grumpiness.

It has gotten better. Not easier, though, but they tell me that comes with time.
