Answers to Persistent Misconceptions
Answer to Misconception #1: I don't have a staff. I
don't have a helper. I don't have a webmaster. I don't have anyone who
reads my mail. I'm it. I do read all my mail, but I don't answer everything.
I can't.
Answer to Misconception #2: Yes, I really have left
the Forward Motion Community permanently.
It now belongs to one of my best friends in the world, Lazette Gifford,
who is doing a brilliant job of running it. It is an active, growing
community, it's free, and I recommend it with my whole heart, but I
had to choose other priorities, and I'm not there anymore.
Answer to Misconception #3: I really mean it when I
say I'm not answering writing questions anymore. At the moment I'm also
not taking e-mail. I switched everything over to a guestbook due
to massive surprise deadline crunches, but that, too, required more attention
than I could afford. At the moment, you can reach
me via snail mail,
by using the addresses you'll find in the front of current releases from
any of my current publishers (Eos, Time-Warner, NAL).
Answer to Misconception #4: I'm not retiring. I'm working
on books and my family full-time. I am retiring from
online activity. I'll be adding new things here from time to time --
mostly chapters and cover art, but the occasional writing article too.
But no weblog, no community, no classes, no massive site overhauls.
I do appreciate the concern of those of you who have been worried, but
I'm in good health, I'm working hard, and everything is okay. Be well.
Be happy. Never give up on your dreams.
